I've never really spent any time experimenting with carbon fiber, but I do like to increase my knowledge base when it comes to new things. Now I've been looking at new fenders for my GSX. I particularly like the F1 style fenders and would like to get them in carbon fiber, but here's my dilemma, I can't seem to find anything on the net. I googled like 15 different variations of "Carbon fiber F1 fenders" for a mits, and just came up with nothing. I did however, find a plentiful amount on ebay that happen to be duraflex fiberglass. I would like to know if it would be worth learning how to carbon fiber wrap the fenders to increase the fenders strength in case of a frontal or side impact... Isn't carbon fiber just an added overlay to a fiberglass infrastructure anyway? I'm just concerned about the strength of carbon fiber wraps. I couldn't find anything about it here on the forums, just a number of posts about look-a-like wraps. Does a wrap have the same structural integrity of a carbon fiber part, eg. having an oem carbon fiber wing verses one that is wrapped?

I never bought any sort of duraflex product, thus I have no clue to as what it can take in terms of stress testing. I know that older fiberglass techniques are good for lightweight applications, but doesn't really take a lot of stress very well. So would wrapping these fenders in cf do me justice where I would like to see results? Or am I going to have to just settle for duraflex?

If anyone has extensive knowledge of how carbon fiber is crafted or wrapped or even just so happens to own a pair of the fenders in cf or duraflex, your input on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Also, if anyone was wondering what they look like, they look like this...
note: disregard the body kit, it's not my car, just a reference picture.

Its still gonna crack the fender in any halfway significant impact. Carbon has some pretty good properties to it but itll still at least crack the gel coat. Looks good sometimes though.
