Does anybody know if these are available for DSMs. They make them for Hondas and apparantly they last far longer than brass by itself. They also allow for higher rpm shifts. Here's a link to Synchrotech Transmissions Inc. website for some pictures and a brief explanation. Synchrotech Carbon Synchros

Taken from their site: "during a two month testing period, the new carbon synchros were subjected to countless passes with shifts over 10,000 RPM's. They showed minimal wear and were reinstalled for further testing."

These could help our tansmissions last longer as well as allow for higher rpm shifts.

You might contact rockland standard gear, they make them for t5's and other domestic trans. It sounds like they just take a regular synchro, machine out the inside, and line it with their proprietary compound. Should be able to do it on any transmission.

I was looking at center differential options last night and noticed them available through one of the forum vendors. It was either Shep or TRE, I don't remember, but definately available if you are truely interested. My first thought, however, was "what fluid do you run with these?"

Thats so cool. I would never shift that high but my synchros would last alot longer.

Bringing this back because 2nd and 3rd are grinding a little. Does anybody have direct links to DSM vendors offering these? I was going to call some places and see if they could make them for DSMs but I'm not a serious buyer just yet. I want to wait until spring when I get the car tuned to see if front wheel drive is even worth keeping.

Get an oem double synchro second. I run the early fiber lined syncros on 3rd and 4th with the input shaft shimmed tight, and it shifts great.

You should have the big diameter 3rd and 4th, so you can either stick with the stock syncros, or have them double synchroed.
