Okay... I've asked in a couple other threads and searched both here and in search engines.. Where can I buy new synchros for my 90 awd tsi tranny? I am trying to avoid going to the dealer, so can anyone help me out? I need to purchase them soon so I can get them installed within a couple weeks.

PLEASE HELP ME OUT!

im in the same position, i just called the dealer.. but i talked to some tranny places to do em for me.. this one guy said he never heard of double syncroing a tranny and i think every other word out of his mouth was Fu*k...

u think i may just go wiht a standard shep raceing tranny for about 900 bucks. let me know what you find out tho please

but how do you install them?

With the help of a press, circlip pliers, and a SERVICE MANUAL.

If you want your car to shift well also replace the keys and springs in the 1/2 and 3/4 hub and sleeves. Check for wear on the leading edge of the sleeves that engage the dog teeth of the gear, if they are not a sharp point anymore (ie you ground the gear, that noise you hear is the sleeve grinding) then replace the hub/sleeve assembly. They are expensive but well worth it in terms of shift quality and you're already in there might as well do the job right the first time.
If you have a 90 tranny order syncros for a 91. The 90 trannys use a paper type friction surface on the syncro that doesn't agree well with many synthetic fluids. The 91s and up use a standard brass syncro with teeth.

Do i need anything else when replacing the 90 synchros with 91 up? Or can i just order them straight out and they'll fit in?
