ok so i bought a 1994 mistubishi eclipse 1.8 today. it was running fine wheni got it(drove it all the way home). then later on that night i go out to try and start it and in order to start it i have to be on the gas or it dies. my friend and me both tried. we started the car and it started but then died(in like 1-3 seconds each time). we then started it and pushed on the gas and it would run fine untill we let off the gas and it would die(it wouldnt idle). we checked under the hood and we saw a lil oil leaking. Does anyone know what might be the issue. we think it might be bad fuel pressure(pump) but any ideas would be very greatful!:thumb:

Check the BISS and make sure it didnt fall off. Its happened before. (That is your idle screw on the throttle body).

im not to sure where that is at..do you thin you could post a pic or details how to look at it?

thanks btw

I'm not sure if the 1.8L engines are different as far as the BISS goes.

I'm pretty sure it sounds like the BISS screw came off or somthing. I dont think the fuel pump could be bad, i doubt that. The vacuum line, maybe, but I really think its the BISS.

Your could also check the MAF sensor. I had a car that was doing the same thing a couple weeks ago and the MAF is what fixed it. good luck!

I've ran my car without the MAF sensor, accidently forgot to plug it in.

ok im posting pics up(bear with me tho..there from my camera phone). im showing you were most the leaks are, and im not sure where the bliss(or watever is on my car)so i got a pic of the engine bay and i was seein if someone could show me. Also the A/c belt is going out(torn), would that affect it at all(pics of that 2)? the blue light on most shows where the leak is. Thanks guys.

Please i jus bought this and i am wanting to know if i am needing any major work.
