Just replaced my fuel filter and got new 550's. my car is tuned for them already. I put everything on and go to start my car, I let it sit with the key to on to prime the lines. I start the car and it bogs down sputters then dies. I try this about 10 times and the car wont stay running. the only problem I had was with one of the spark plug wires when i took it off the coil the metal end came right off and kinda shredded the wire so i put it back on and crimped it down. could that be a problem or is it something else? I hooked everything back up no vaccuum leaks and double/tripple checked.

While you should definitely replace the plug wires to avoid misfires and arcing, your problem sounds more fuel related. With the pump primed, loosen the FPR fitting on the rail and see if fuel comes out. Keep in mind that it does take a bit of time to build pressure back up in the system. You may even have a small vapor lock that's not allowing enough fuel to allow the motor to stay lit once it catches.

You mentioned that you added 550's and the car is tuned for them already. What did you tune for them with?

Its tuned with safc and maft, I had it dyno tuned about a month ago. should i just keep the key on the on position and let it sit for a bit longer? i can hear and feel the fuel rushing through the line to the fpr. what would that mean if fuel doesnt come out after loosening it?

Turning your key on and leaving it on will do nothing. The fuel pump generally will only come on for about 10 seconds. You need to cycle the key off and on a few times to prime the system. Also to I'm Not sure on these cars because I haven't changed the fuel filter yet but make sure you have the filter going in the right direction. If you have it mounted backwards it could block the system. Just check it to make sure. keep us posted.

everything is pluged in and the filter is in the right direction. could it be a faulty fpr? the pump runs longer than 10 seconds it will run as long as i have the key in the on position... will running excessively rich cause it to do that at idle?
