Ok i know i should use the search a lil bit more on my problem but i dont have the time. I am really sorry if this is a easy problem to fix but im new. OK so today i did my first seafoam, everything went fine. the car turned on after it and every thing. i doubt that has anything to do with it but i just had to mention that. Ok well my car has idle surge and i was reading that one of the things that can cause this are the biss screw o-ring or whatever so i took out the biss and it all looked good, so i put it back, not sure the exact tightness it was but i put it back to what i thought it was. Right after i put that back i disconnected the isc connector to see if one of the coils were bad, but it all looked good so i put it back how it was. I tried to start the car and nothing, it all turned and seem like it was about to start but it didnt. WTF!!! so replaced the spark plugs because i had some laying around for my car, that didn't help at all. put the old ones back, nothing. disconnected the battery for a lil bit put it back, still nothing. The car seems like its about to start but nothing, just keeps turning. i really have no idea what this could be. Oh and i just bought my car on Thursday and havent had much of a chance to drive it, so this sucks really bad. if any one can help, it will be greatly appreciated.

- as i looked through the search a lil bit i read something about ticking in the front of your TB or something like that. But i think i experienced it, it kinda sounded like a dead battery clicking trying to start. the keys were in the ignition turned all the way before turning on the car. idk if that has anything to do with it???

PLEASE I WANNA DRIVE MY NEW CAR:cry:

...ok, im embarrassed, since thats probably just the a/c belt. hehe forget that last post....in case im wrong????

No, the missing belt you have only runs the AC compressor. Without it the AC won't work, but there's no reason the car won't start. I actually cut mine and ran the car for a few weeks before removing the AC compressor all together.

Have you checked your MAF sensor connection? a loose connection there could keep you from starting. Not something you touched, but i've had that problem too.

this same problem is happening to me right now! I have a post about it too. I am usually pretty good a pin pointing problems but this one has me so pissed off. when your car shut off did the tach go nuts>? I was driving it, it started to sputter, the tach went nuts and shut off completely. So im in the same situation.

the car actually didnt die when i was driving, it was driving really good, then i parked it, couple hours later messed with teh biss and the isc connector, but put it all back. and then it didnt start....im pissed. like really pissed...u have no idea.

hum yeah it sucks huh! when you find out make sure you let me know, if its not the same problem its definitley similar. im hoping on mind that its the resistor box, i really dont know why else the tach on would crazy on mine.

yeah i sure will, but idk when thats gonna be...gonna change the oil tomorrow, look at the MAS...idk do some research. we'll see.

From experience, I'm going to say go over the basics before you even mess with anything. Make sure you have fuel, spark, air, and compression. Obviously it sounds like you have fuel if you took your plugs out and they smell like fuel, so you can probably eliminate that. You can check spark and compression in one shot. Pull the 1st cylinder plug(the one closest to the timing belt) and plug it back into the plug wire and set it on the head. Have a friend crank the car over and see if you're even getting spark. A car can turn over forever and never even have spark. While your friend is cranking the car over for about 2 seconds, listen to hear if you have air coming out of the spark plug chamber. If you're not getting spark, here's a couplle things to check.... check to make sure your coils are getting power, signal, etc. If they aren't, there's your problem. My bet is going to be this,.... you have a crank position sensor on your car that reads a signal coming from the crank pulley inside the timing belt housing. If that is bad, your car won't get spark, therefore, not allowing it to start. Like i said, I'm going to bet that it's the crank position sensor, only because it's happened to me before. The cool thing about if the crank position sensor is bad, is that you dont actually have to tear your timing belt housing apart to change it, you can do a 1g CAS re-wire, which will read both crank and cam sensors all from the CAS sensor and also allow your cam to be adjustable. Let me know if this helps you at all, you can PM me if you want any additional info. Hope this helps :dsm:

Crank the car for about 5 seconds... Check to see if you have fuel pressure at the rail. If you do then your engine is flooded! The only way to unflood the motor is to change the oil, filter and dry your plugs off or get new ones. Then you have to squirt a little bit of oil down each cylinder to seal the rings so you have enough compression to get it started! It sounds like one of your connectors got what or somthing from the seafoam and that was causeing your car not to start and because you reapeatedly cranked the motor you flooded it out. Just fix the flood problem first and then go from there!

ok im going to go over the basics to re check everything. I want to see if the car is getting fuel first, i dont have a repair manual yet or anything like that, so could anyone send a picture of where the lines from the fuel are or go?

ok, so i checked the spark and the compression, it all tested out good. i have a spark and air is coming out of the spark plug chamber. I'm still not 100% if fuel is getting all the way through. whats the best way to do so?

If you crank the motor over with out the spark plug in, you'll smell the gas. The only way to know your actual fuel pressure is to buy a tester and follow the instructions in the repair manual.

If you pull the spark plugs and smell gas you can rule out the fuel pump. Pull the spark plug wires, jam a screw driver in the end of the wire and get close to the head cover w/the screw driver. Have some one turn over the motor and it you see a spark between the screwdriver and the head cover then you know its not the ignition. (repeat these steps for all 4 wires) I'm willing to bet its the biss screw.

agreed,,just threw in fuel pump because who knows if its bad i mean sometimes they go bad pretty fast eben though most unlikely

-Check the timing belt by taking the top timing cover off to see if the timing belt is still intact.

-Visually check your crankshaft pulley, mine was broken into two pieces that damaged the lower timing cover which threw the timing cover debris that damaged crank sensor as well as timing belt.

Good luck!

ok well i looked at the timing belt its all in tact. but i had a question about the pulleys, you know how you make some kind of mark on each one, well there is a mark on each one, but i thought the marks were supposed to line up? anyway, i kinda feel helpless with out a repair manual, so i went to get one today...they were out. So idk, i think im kinda running out of options here aren't i? Is their possibly any one who lives near Wisconsin dells, Wisconsin that could come take a look at this weekend? there could be some $ involved?????

i will be working on my car tommorrow and im not quiting till its done so i will let you know tommorrow what was wrong with my car! the first thing i am checking is the crank sensor.

Well a lot of what i was going to say has been covered already, but the one thing that sticks in my mind is the possibility of having broken one of the CAS wires inside it's insulation without even knowing it while you were messing with the ISC plug. When the ignition is off and then turned on and cranked, does it fire what would seem like once or twice right off and then not do anything until the key is off and back on again? That would be a sign of CAS not giving signal as the ECU don't know that cylinder #1 is coming back up and therefor doesn't fire an ignition event.

OK the tming belt and the crankshaft pulley still intact and assuming all the fuse has been checked.

I know you've said you have fuel, if you havn't done so you need to check the spark. I've attached a picture of a spark tester I use that cost about $5 at auto part. It work great.

The last I would recommend compression test if you haven't done so. Eventhough the timing belt still intact it may have jump.

My .02 Cents.

Good luck!

ok well, the thing is, if i let it sit overnight with out touching it, then try to turn it on,it sees like it gets a spark really quick but then just quits and keeps cranking. idk wtf is goin on.

Also, i did check the spark, and i for sure have it, trust me. As for compression, im pretty sure there is because air is coming out of the spark plug chamber.

Now that you said that, thats what mind does too. If i leave it sit for awhile it acts like it gets spark right away, but then quits. I was talking to my one buddy and he was saying about the crank sensor. If its bad or unplugged the motor will spend but wont know when to give spark. I am pretty sure that thsi is the problem on mind so on sunday since it snowed today i will be checking it out.
