About 2 weeks ago i was coming back home from Mass. and kinda pushed the car harder then i should have..... i got the car from a guy who didn't know anything about what he was doing... Anyways i was going down the highway at high speeds( don't know because my spedo doesn't work because of the manual overhaul)
the car feels kinda sluggish and all of a sudden i hear a really loud clunking noise bout 3 times and the car stalls all the lights come on and i pull over... i try and start the car but all that happens is the belts move... so i thought i was timing... i got it home and the timing belt was fine.... i tried to jump the car and the engine torqued like crazy made loud clunking noises... but it got the battery charged enough to do that every time when i try and start it... When i turn the key the engine tries to turn over making a horrid noise and lots of clunking.... when i let go it doesn't stop trying to turn over i have to turn the key into the off position. i have NO idea what it is and i have some mechanics coming to look at it this week but i would like to know a little about whats going on here so i don't get screwed into more work then in needed.... Please help me out! Another forum said check my oil pressure but it doesn't make sense.

Pull the plugs out(check them over good) and try turning the motor over by hand(put a 1\2" ratchet on the harmonic balancer bolt, crankshaft nut on driver side, it's square so the ratchet will fit into it.) and see if there is any clunking when turning over by hand. If so could be a number of things(fly wheel broke or loose ,clutch messed up, balance shaft, hard to speculate)

Is it a 4g63t or 420a did you have to tow it home?

Did your oil light ever come on?
Do you see any oil up under the car?
Jack the car up and check the block and oil pan for holes.
You could possibly have a spun rod bearing.
you may have a problem with your connecting rod(s).

I lifted the car and had a weird idea to check the oil a few days ago and when i did there wasnt much of any in there.... there was enough to dampen the dip stick but not make any marks on it as far as level... i was told to drain it and refill it which i will do after work today...

I drained the oil well tried. No oil came out, i stuck my finger in and there was enough to coat my finger. I Removed the Oil filter and there was a lot of oil in it but no chunks of metal.

I got the Wrench stuck on the old filter LOL and im waiting on a reply from another post i cant seem the find the fill port on my transmission because it is a manual overhaul and i drained it like a week ago and need to refill it.
I drained it thinking it might be my clutch plate being shatter from over heating from lack of fluid but i was wrong there was a ton of fluid.
Also i am in the process of moving the battery to the back and i cant find a hold in the firewall that i can get to except for the hole where the throttle cable comes in for the accelerator.

Alright i changed the oil and the oil filter as well as added transmission fluid i just have to finish wiring the battery and try and start it. After that i will repost with anything i find wrong after that.

sounds like you threw a rod... especially with a lack of oil.. if it manages to start, I can bet it will knock like crazy.. Although, its not unlikely that you did break something in the drivetrain, ie clutch, flywheel bolts, etc..

if you cannot get it to start, pop off the oil pan, and look at the rods and see if there is anything bad. after that, I would try a compression test to test the head for damage from a possible slipped timing belt..
