hey guys i checked the forum pretty good. mine is specific so here it goes. car runs fine and yesterday it just decided to not start not even crank. so i open the hood and touch some wires then it started! later that night it did it again but this time i had to tow it home =[

what it does is when you turn the key everything comes on and when you turn the key you hear a low humming or rotation noise coming from seems to be near the clutch reservoir. i dont think the starter is even making a noise! guys i need some ideas im hoping this is just some electrical issue.

I had a similar issue where the car would start some times and other times it woud not. Same symptoms. I ended up having a bad starter in my car. You might try push starting the car when it won't start. If it starts and runs just fine, its a possability that you have an electrical problem to the starter or the starter may not be working.

i believe there is a bad connection to the starter i just dont know what to look for?

i forgot to mention. when i turn the key i get 1 click when i release the key one more click. the clutch is not hooked up so it does not have to be depressed to turn it on. please if anyone has some insight it would be greatly appreciated.

sorry to bump this guys. but i really could use some help. i dont know what else to look for!?

just tested the starter and its fine. when the key is and turned on the on position there is power going to the starter. but when you try and start the car there is then no power to the starter? we had a tester...

Not really sure but it could be a bad relay or fuse. I had a bad relay and didn't know. I just bought the car a day or two earlier and was driving down the highway to work. First my stereo died and wouldn't turn back on. Of course, I thought I just blew the radio fuse. Nope. The car lost a huge amount of power for about a minute, then all the electronics went dead on me including the car itself. Thought it was the starter at first. Found out it was a bad relay. Hope this might help.

You need to check the signal wire on the starter for 12v when you turn the key to START. It's the smallest wire with a spade connector on the end. Pull it off the starter, put a volt meter on it and crank the key checking it for voltage (put the volt meter on the windshield so you can see the display from inside the car). If the car has the neutral safety switch still hooked up you will need to push the clutch pedal in to start the car. If you have power to the starter and signal getting to this wire the car should crank unless the starter is bad or the battery isn't supplying enough amperage to crank the car over. There is also a ground wire connection that you need to check. It's on the passenger side of the motor below the thermostat housing area. It's a 3 prong connector but there's only 1 wire running through it (should be black with yellow stripe I think). If there isn't good continuity at this connection you can lose the signal to the starter. Lastly, if the neutral safety switch is still hooked up and you can't get the car to crank, the switch might be bad, bypass it to check. Battery voltage/amperage should be the first place to look, then check that signal wire for voltage while cranking, go after terminal connections, power and signal wires on the starter, the ground I mentioned, then neutral safety switch. Good luck. The one I just battled with for 2.5 hrs ended up being the above mentioned ground connection on the engine wiring harness below the thermostat area.

i just checked the little black and yellow wire when i start it i get 12v. there is juice going to the starter but it just is not working. i got the starter tested AGAIN today and its fine!??! what is going on. you guys are very helpful i need to pinpoint this problem very fast guys! help me some more!!

update: i just pop started it! ran fine. but now the boost gauge light is not on? hahah what the hell is going on.

ok so now im pretty sure i figured it out. i just need to know why im not getting power to the starter. its getting full power when the key is turned so i can narrow it down a little bit. the starter however is fine! could this be an ignition problem? i was able to push start it though.
