Hi, I recently had bent valves, so the new one was installed and everything is hooked up and ready to go, but now the car won't start.
All the electrical turns on, but the car won't start, can anyone please give me some advice or any past experiences with this?

Any help would be REALLY appreciated, thank you so much fellow dsm r's

Op said it isnt even cranking. It isnt a tbelt if that's the case. Clutch safety switch? Is it still plugged in

Alright fellas, so I start looking at the car today and probably about 1hr 1/2 I notice that under the intake manifold I see the starter, I notice this connection to the starter isnt fully on the starter, so I grab a long flat head and I try to fully put it on.
I try to start the car and it's cranking, it'seems trying to start, I'm thinking it could be the timing belt that's off?

you could have phased the belt exactly 180 degrees out of time. Doesn't hurt anything, but it definitely wont start. I did it on my first belt too.

Well, I just put in gas, and the battery is 100%, so the timing belt is off by a couple of teeth?

Ok you are over thinking this....

1. Check all electrical and intercooler connections to the engine and confirm that the timing is on point. Both very easy things to do

2. Spray some starter fluid in the throttle body and pop the intercooler pipe back on. Fluctuate the throttle position while cranking. Does this change your situation? If the answer is no its not fuel related.

3. Take out the spark plugs and ground them to the firewall or something. check them one by one and crank the car over to make sure that they are all sparking.

You have to check all these things first in a crank no start situation. There is no "I know there is spark/fuel because ( insert something other than testing it)"

This all assumes that in the post I quoted you meant you are getting a good, hard crank.

Run the tests and report back the results and we will go form there.

Starter trigger wire not on all the way and no corrosion? Also is the ground in the right place for the starter? Are the plug wires in the right order? I see why your bov isn't recirculated like it should be LOL. So your engine is mad at you for running it wrong LOL. Fix that crap or get sd so you can actually vent the bov properly. And before you do anything else and bend more valves check the timing marks are on. How do you know the used gst head is even good? Possible it could have bent valves or a valve that's not sealing. You should have taken the time to clean the valves and relap them and put new seals. Who knows that head could be warped. Just cuz a car looks stock doesn't mean it's ok.

Take the cover off the cam gears
And take a picture so we can see how the cam gears are lined up. Rotate the motor by hand to tdc and snap a pic of the cam gears and crank pulley

The information going back and forth is pretty confusing here. From what I gathered, as soon as you turn the key you get one click and nothing happens.
Sounds to me like the starter isn't grounded, the starters 12v wire is not connected properly, the fuse is blown or the solenoid is bad within the starter.

What I would do:
First - Ensure all connectors are on the starter. 12v wire and signal wire.
Second – Ohm out the fuse in the 12v feed wire. Should be near 0 Ohms.
Third – Volt meter, negative end on the battery negative and positive on the 12v post on the starter. You should see 12volts. If not, there is a break in the line; connection, fuse, etc.
Forth – Grab a screwdriver and jump both posts on the start to see if it cranks. (Do this at your own risk. Sometimes I pull the MPI fuse just to make sure the vehicle wouldn’t randomly start.) If it does crank, your solenoid is still good and the starter is fine. (Sometimes I do this first because Im lazy and dont feel like ohming things out. This will tell you if youre grounded, have 12vs and the solenoid is good.)

As for timing being off. It wouldnt hurt to check however if you are not cranking, timing has nothing to do with this.

This maybe a god send for you, The car not starting has nothing to do with the timing yes, however before you go and turn the motor over I would be certain that your mechanical timing is set correctly. esp if you need a picture of what it supposed to look like. Getting the motor to turn over is the simplest task out of everything discussed. Sending a piston into the valve is also a very simple procedure to complete. Take a picture of your cam gears at tdc.......please

Does no one read the thread before posting anymore?
The OP already said he got it to turn over. It has already been reiterated he got it to turn over.

Another thing, CRANKING is what the starter does. Cranking or turning over is the proper way to describe a starter working/engine not firing situation. STARTING would imply the engine actually fired and started.
Things get incredibly confusing when you mix the two up.

LOL wow, two posts. Totally looked over it as I was skimming and see that people were still replying to it. Thats kinda funny. Anyways, moving forward, you should do a compression test. If they are bent they are bent. Nothing can change that fact. Fingers crossed its still in time.
