when in gear its like its in neutral or your golding in the cloutch. you can start it, go through all the gears and not hear it grind or move. the cables on the tranny are moving, you can here it going in the gears, and when you pull it down the road and go through the gears it still grinds in second but thats it it only grinds. any thoughts about whats wrong? i guess the guy pulled out, went to shift it into 2nd, it grinded, and thats it they coasted to a stop in gear.???? i dunno ita a 90 talon tsi awd

i'm a little confused by what you are saying...can you actually move when you put it in gear? manual or auto transmission? i would say it sounds like the clutch is shot...i need more info though...

sorry i know i didnt know how to explain it. its like this..... when i start the car, and put it in gear it does nothing. its 5 speed. i can go from 1st through 5th without touching the clutch with the car running and it doesnt move or anything. the clutch feels good and was put in new about 2000 miles ago. i think thet the tranny is crap. the cables move on the outside of the tranny so i know a shift cable isnt broke. it grinded really bad in 2nd and the kid that i got the car off of said he shifted it into 2nd and it just wouldnt go. it just revs up. i hope thats a little better sorry. sounds like somethimg broke in the tranny?

it just reves up and doesnt move in all the gears. you can push it nomatter what gear its in and it moves freely, like its not engaging

any sounds? possibly broken input shaft on tranny or clutch disc is non existant. any prior problems, slipping, wierd shifting, grinding, etc?

the guy was sitting on a hill and put it in second cause it grinds really bad but doesnt while your not moving, no noise or nothing, went in gear, he went to pull out and it wouldnt go anywhere.i dunno. it goes in and out of all the gears it just dosent go anywhere.

hey, i seem to have the same problem. I have a 92 talon awd and the guy i bought it from said the trans was shot but everthing seemed to work fine, even when running, the car would not move in any gear. so i then tore it all apart and found that the clutch is completely shot and my drivers side front axle is completely shot too. Im rebuilding the whole car and my friend wants me to just put it all back together with a new clutch and axles and take my chances and the tranny, but ive never drove the car, so i dont know if it grinds at all or not either. Im still thinking that even if the trannys good just to get it rebuilt by shepracing.com, just to be safe.

well i think the clutch is shot. i forgot that we put a longer slave cylinder rod in it. we put a newclutch master cylinder, new lines all the way down to the new slave cylinder and it still had barly any clutch. the clutch pedal travels about a half inch or so before pushing the master cylinder. the pedal is adjusted all the way out, but i think i read something about taking the pedals out and welding something or replacing something to get rid of the play?
