its a 1990 tsi..:hellyeah:
tell me what you think, i have in the box still, a new clutch slave but im not sure if i should take it back or try it, ok so when i start the car i cant put it in gear, but if i turn it off, & put it in gear it takes off. It wants to move when i start it, even with the clutch pushed to the floor?? it isnt easy to shift i have to really get the rpms perfect, i think its my slave what do you think.??:ohdamn:

i looked at the clutch slave and its pushing the fork all the way, and no sticking, it comes back up off the floor, but it makes a nose kinda scweeaking, from the tranny like the TOB is making nose, and the car shakes really bad when i push the clutch in, or let it up, like its out of balance:hmm:

first thing i did b4 i started this thread was bleed the clutch, i looked at it and it is working, the pedal goes fully up, and the clutch fork looks like its going all the way when i push the pedal. I had my dad push on it, and i looked under the car, it goes all the way it even just touches the housing,

a while back when i was still in the honda scene i had a car that did the same thing and i changed the clutch and it was fine, ok u bled the system and thaats good, might as well throw the slave cylinder on since u already have it and if that doesent work change your clutch, in my case it was somethin to do with the clutch. hope this helps

ok my other car is a 1991 gsx. and this car with the problem is a 1990 tsi, i am climbing under each car and having my dad push the clutch as i look inside the tranny, are the tranys the same, my 91 gsx clutch fork has less throw, it looks like my tsi might have a loose pressure plate. i say this because it looks way different when i look at the two cars. my gsx works perfect,

is the throw out bearing tricky to change, like it is on my 2003 lancer evo.

ugh this is crazy i cant seem to fix it i dont even know where to start i have a new clutch and pressure plate, and slave, but i dont want to just throw parts at the car when it could be the tranny or shift link. i just got the car and the people who had it were so high on drugs they didnt know what to do, they had just gotten the car and didnt know what was wrong, that on its own is a whole crazy long story... so please more ideas anyone.

you need to get tech manual that shows you how to remove trans so you can replace your clutch assembly. The tranny itself is fine your you wouldnt be moving or able to shift by rev matching. hydraulics for clutch are good from what you have said so its most likely the pp is not disengaging when pedal is pushed in. So remove the trans replace clutch and everything will be fine

sounds like a case of bad clutch. mines did the sam thing replace the clutch. while i was replacing mine i went ahead and replaced the slave and master cylinders they were 17yrs old i didnt see why not too.

When you say clutch you think its the pressure plate or the clutch disc

So today I worked on it some more, I found the tranny was very loose, only 2 bolts on the front side of the tranny were there, all the other bolts were no were to be found. So I picked up all the bolts from the parts store, put it all back together, and it WILLl not go into gear if the car is running, I thought that would fix it 4 sure, the tranny was really separating from the motor when I was pushing the clutch in. It did however fix all the vibration I felt. UGHHH looks like im going to take it all the way out in the morning. RRRR I thought I had it. At least its not to bad i have a new PP, and clutch disc, and fly wheel, looks like its time to put them in.....

i just got done taking it apart and this is what i found

i'm guessing the spring probably pop out b/c of loose tranny to block. new disc and pressure plate should work out for you. make sure you resurface that flywheel or get a new one.

i had the same problem with the vibration. when i install my tranny, i missed only two bolt on the tranny and it's already vibrating.

it was a bad clutch disk the spring fell out

True it was a bad clutch disc.... But what broke the spring like that... Listen to what they said it was a loose tranny to engine somewhere.... I had the same problem.. Do it right the first time or you'll be doing it twice... I bought my 91gsx with a brand new 2100 act disc and flywheel... I know it was new because i knew the kid you sold the car to me... He didn't tighten 2 bolts and bamn in less then 2 weeks i had to pull that tranny again for a popped spring...
