Hello Tuners,

I need help. My car was driving fine all day and then I went from 1st gear shifting into 2nd gear and will not go into gear. No crazy shifting or driving just casual shifting into 2nd gear. I pulled over because I couldn't get into either 3rd, 4th and 5th so All gears I can not get into.
There were no signs of slipping of the clutch or tranny problems.
The clutch is an ACT 2600 which was put on before I bought the car in 2005. Master cylinder was replaced a year ago, have not replaced the slave cylinder but to me it works fine. Slave pushes the rod to the shift fork. So my guess is clutch, but what is your guys take on this one.

Also I can shift into gear with the car off, but not when the car is started. So I tried started it in gear and it feels like the car is jumping if it was starting in gear w/out depressing the pedal. I need thi car to drive to work and back, please help. I greatly appreciate it.

If you still have pressure in the pedal and you said the slave cylinder is moving the clutch fork fine, then it most likely is the clutch itself. But it could also be a bent clutch fork, my guess is the clutch itself though.

a similar thing happened to my first 2g. right after a 15 mile long race in sacramento with an rx7 turbo(i won hehe). i was just casually shifting. car was driving great and shifting smooth with no slipping. pedal and slave working great. what did i do?!?!?!?. i brok 2 torsion springs on my clutch disc. they were jammed between the flywheel and the pressure plate. made some funny noised kinda like grinding when it first happened. sorry to be the bearer of bad news. i hate doing awd clutch jobs too

hopfully thats not what happened to you, but verry possible

Well I will change the slave cylinder first because it is old anyways, than is that does not work then it is time to drop the tranny.

I believe its the clutch. It's the same clutch since 2005?
It's probably worn and need to be replaced soon. One way to tell if the clutch is gone bad is if you have to fully press down on the clutch for it to go in to gear (all the way for the clutch to catch at all). I would have someone who is experienced take a look at it.
sorry if this doesn't help

Clutch fork possibly. The torsion springs can also be the cause. I've been going through this issue for some time. I've bled the system, replaced both cylinders, replaced the clutch line, adjusted the clutch pedal, bled again..... nothing. I'm under the impression the the fork is the culprit. Definitely worth a look. Search using "slave cylinder". You'll see a bunch of threads on the subject. My 2g has been down since January due to lack of tools and money. Good luck with yours and post what you end up finding out. You may just end up helping me with mine.

Dropped the tranny, and the spring off the clutch disc broke off and binded inside. time for another clutch. Can I just buy the disc or the kit and what is the step for the fly wheel?
Thanks Tuners

mattp_65 if you are going to do the clutch then I would highly suggest getting another clutch fork, cause the added pressure of a performance clutch has a tendency to bend/brake clutch forks , I have an act 2900 and it snapped mine right at the pivot ball looked good through the inspection plate but was tottaly screwed when taking apart just my .02 on what I would do just to easy your mind for the future:thumb:
