fuel...air...spark

start with making sure its getting those three then check to make sure cas is installed correctly and not 180 degree out. also check the plug firing order. and finally the engine timing. the fact that it has to sit to me indicates its going thru the compression stroke and building pressure but not firing.

What I can't understand what you wrote, proper grammar please I want to help you but I can't understand what you said please rephrase it. Since you have a 91 tsi awd, 1g talons, eclipses ,lasers are notorious for ecu going bad check the caps for any damage to the ecu may have.

No kidding, does nobody read what they write before they post?

It sounds to me like you have an issue somewhere between the battery and starter. Like a crappy connection. Are the battery teminals clean and tight? Is the engine grounded good with the large ground wire going to the transmission bolt?

Di-section:

What I can't understand what you wrote (I don't understand what you wrote. "Can't" tells the reader your inability to understand).
Proper grammar please (need a comma, and this starts your run on sentence).
I want to help you but I can't understand what you said (this should be a new sentence).
Please rephrase it. (should be a new sentence)
Last sentence was poorly categorized and had improper punctuation as well as poor sentence structure.

I don't understand what you wrote. Proper grammar please. I want to help you but I don't understand what it is you said. Please rephrase it. Since you have a 91 TSI AWD it is known that 1g Talons, Eclipses, and lasers are notorious for a faulty ECU. Check the caps for any damage.

Don't criticize others when you have your own faults. Also if he is using Tapatalk, it's hard as hell trying to input a proper and understandable sentence on those shitty smartphones.

^owned LOL.

Now to the op, it sounds to me like you have a dead battery or loose connection. Like stated above make sure your battery terminals are tight and clean, the starter wire isn't broken or corroded, and ofcourse that the battery is fully charged.

Wow.

OP, your initial post was very difficult to understand. But I think you just redeemed yourself. LOL

Thank you everyone for your help. I will say it was 2:30 a.m and I was using my phone so my grammar wasn't close to proper. What I meant to say was, I have a 91 Talon TSI AWD and I just put a brand new motor in. The engine will turn freely by hand but it's not turning with the key. It will start to turn with the key but then stops and doesn't turn until after sitting for a minute or two. It will then try to turn again after sitting. When you turn key, after it tries to turn, the starter will click like it's not fully engaging. It sounds like a dead battery or the starter is bad, but they are both brand new. After sitting again it repeats the same cycle. I'm literally at wits end with this car. The ground wires are there and intact. The starter works perfectly, I checked yesterday. I put a couple extra grounds on the motor just to double check that it wasn't the problem. I double checked the timing and it is correct. I put brand new plugs and plug wires on it. I will take any advice I can. Thank you for your help.

What's condition of the large hot cable going to the starter? Is it in good shape?

Have you tried jumping the trigger wire with a hot just to see what it will do?

Ok so here is an up date on the car. I finely got it started and it will rev up to about 3000rpm then die. When I go to crank it back up it acts like the battery was drained. I charged the battery it started up and did the same thing. When I took the gas line off it had a good strong steady stream flowing from it.

Fuel pump and/or filter..more filter if you're pulling the fuel line to check fuel flow, esp at the rail intake, after the filter. Injectors are being starved for fuel why it dies on you.

EDIT: With the starter, it could be selinoid starter contacts going bad on you with your topic description.

i must bring to your attention that just because a battery and starter are new doesnt mean that they are the proper items or that they are even good for that matter.. to little cold cranking amps with cause the same problem as well as a weak starter.

Use a fluke meter on your battery and have someone turn the key. If there is no draw than I would look into the starter being bad. If you purchased the starter from Auto Zone or Oreilly than you may have gotten a dud as they are re-manufactured.

If your battery is holding 12.5-12.8 volts than it is not a battery issue. If it is holding less than 11.8 put a charger on that beast. After it is fully charged than try to start teh car, than check if the battery is holding the charge.

My guess here is your started could be a dud but that would not explain your engine dying after you started it the last time.

Have you checked:
Fuel Filter
Fuses
Spark
