Well I leave work yesterday and go out start the 1g up and was running really really rough, check engine light comes on after 30 seconds and the car cut out and has not started since. So I pull it into the shop and try to turn it over and it turns over but does not actually start. I can hear the fuel pump turn on when I crnak the car so I assume there is fuel getting to it. Also I checked for spark and I am getting spark. I think it may be an ecu crapping out on me but I don't know the symptoms so I can't put my finger on it. Finally When I turn the key on it sounds like the ecu is turning on and off randomly because I hear a bunch of clicks when key on engine off? Any ideas I'm at a loss right now. 1g car if that means anything

Yeah i would check your ecu, its quite easy actually, its located right behind the radio. to get to it just take the panels off the sides and i think there are 4 bolts holding it on. its the big flat gold box in there. Pulling the harness can kind of be a pain sometimes too. Once you get it out, take off the cover and check for a rotten fish smell, leaking capacitors, or any brown crud/burn marks.

i had same problem on my 2g check the power resistor next to the coil packs sometimes it comes lose for somereason

any battery symbol on the dash when running. when it cranks does it sputter like its trying to start or does it just crank and sound the same all the time?
LOL i didnt realize this thread was dead until after i posted.
