Car still won't shift--- Video

I did not hear if it ever worked in your video? Has it ever gone into 1st or 2nd since you owned it?
If you just got it and you don't know, I would check the linkage on the tranny side while someone is shifting in the car. Also you can disconnect the linkage at the tranny and see if it will shift into 1st or 2nd or any gear manually at the tranny. If it does then something wrong with your shifting linkage. If it don't time to rebuild your tranny.

Happened to me one time. PrimerPLus hit it on the head. The Shifter linkage under the hood where it bolts to the trans had lost a bolt therefore throwing everything off. A quick trip to the local hardware had me rolling in no time!

Not sure from the video why you're saying 1st and 2nd don't work, compared to the movement for 5th and reverse it looks fine. If it's an issue with only certain gears, it's not a clutch issue, but more than likely a shifter/linkage adjustment issue. If it's not going into 1st and 2nd try lengthening the adjustment for the cable on the left (that moves with shifter side to side movement) and see if that does the trick.

What Im getting out of the video is that you think the left most cable is what controls first and second but the only one that moves is the right cable? Am I right?

Thats how it is supposed to be. The left cable is back and forth and the right is forward and back. Have you tried running the car yet? It looks like it works fine and works as it should to me.

The left cable pulls and pushes the lever on the transmisson. What this does is lifts or drops the "selector" if you will (unsure of its real name) into the applicable gear sets. 1+2, 3+4, 5+R. Not very much movement at the shifter lever is a decent amount on the trans. Leverage is awesome!

Try starting the car and going for a short drive. Im betting you'll be fine!

Sorry, first DSM for me. Feel kind of stupid here :coy: :ohdamn:
I did try to drive the car and what feel like first gear is actually 3rd...

I'll give it a shot. I had a hard time seeing last night as it was dark and I didn't pull the intake off. I'll check today when I get off of work. Thank you! :thumb::)

No no its all good man, I was just confused for a second. Well in this case, like stated earlier you need to disconnect the linkage at the trans and make sure it shifts into all gears manually. After that hook it back up and have someone try and shift it and watch to see if theres anything preventing it from making the full swing into gear.

If you can move the levers on the gearbox by hand with no problems, and not with the shift knob, you just have a worn out shifter assembly or bent cables. The left cable is to select first and second gear. If it can't push the lever on the gearbox all the way forward then it won't select it.

Sounds like I am going to have a fun evening. Between this and my cut out issue I really just want to burn the car :banghead:
