Well i got my car a few weeks ago. It ran fine up until today. I had to drive about 70 miles on the interstate today. Well after i made it where i was going and left the engine seemed to be getting louder and louder. Sounds like an exhaust leak of sorts. So it sounds like shit and it won't boost over .5 bar. This was not an abrupt change or anything... just gradual. I'm on the stock 14b turbo exhaust fuel pump and a buschur stage 3 shortblock. It was running good cuz i beat my roomy's evo on the interstate pretty badly. Now it just runs slow as shit and won't boost. Maybe a blown turbo or hg??? I have no clue... any help would be appreciated.

P.S. the car really isn't smoking... someone said there looked to be a small amount of white smoke.. which would be a coolant leak but i have no clue what's goin on.

I would check the basic tune up components.
Air filter
Spark plugs
Wires
The plugs and wires wouldn't effect the boost but while you are under the hood :thumb:
Check the FAQs or search the forums on how to do a boost leak test. This could be quite likely.

While the car is running feel around the exhaust manifold for air leaking out.
Watch out it will be HOT!
Check all the manifold bolts and turbo bolts, make sure they are tight.
Those are my main ideas for starters.

The one other thing I noticed is if this is for your 97 you are running a T25 turbo stock
If it is a 14b it's not stock.

No this is a 91 gsx... i sold the 2g awhile back... thanks and keep em coming folks

actually bad plugs and or wires would cause you to not be able to boost properly. has the car thrown a CEL yet? if your running higher boost or high octane gas you could expect to go through a set of plugs in a few weeks, wires...if they are stock, they suck. i would reccomend getting some accel thundersport wires. i had a problem similar to yours and it was just my plugs and wires. i also had a white smoke problem, mine was caused by sometbody who taped off the valve cover breather hose so that the valve cover could not breathe. that was my fixes though, good luck.

What?
How do bad plugs and wires effect boost?
As for plugs and wires lasting a few weeks. I do run stock boost but I ran a set of plugs for 3 years with no negative effects, and I am still using the oem wires I got four years ago and have had no noticable problems.

they will effect it if your car starts to misfire, your boost will sputter and so on. on stock boost you can expect to run those plugs for that long although good practice if you want to save your engine would be to change the plugs at every oil change. if you start to misfire and it is caused by your plugs or anything else in the ignition system your ecu will pull timing, probably only boost to about 5 psi and sputter like mad while doing so. if you stay out of boost though your car will run okay, but when you start injecting more fuel and create boost the plug cannot keep up and burn the fuel off for you, causing it to sputter.

Check exhaust leaks, boost leaks, etc.
I'd also inspect the entire exhaust system from the exhaust manifold back.

Run a leakdown test or have a shop run one.
