well i had a transmission leak so i took it to a local shop and they said they fixed the problem. While driving it home it felt as if it hit a brick wall once it was at 3500-4000 rpms, I figured it was a boost leak. Once I got home i saw a coupler had slightly blown off of the IC piping. i fixed that and called it a night. The next two days I didn't touch the car due to my days off and I have been sick. So today I go out to my car and no power. I figure dead battery but don't see how since everything was closed and off but what the heck. I hook up my car for a jump and when I turned the key to the ON position, the windshield wipers start going even though they are off. I try to start the car anyway and I just hear spinning. Needing help. any advice is very much appreciated

Windshield wipers on without the switch in is a cross to power. Means something with power is feeding the wiper circuit through bare wires or crossed terminal. When you say it spins is the entire starter spining and it's not turning your flywheel or just everything is turning and not cranking over?

Short to power in my opinion is the hardest to find. Get a wiring diagram online and just trace the wires from the fuse box to the switch and to the wiper motor. Time consuming for sure. If it sounds like its turning the starter fine but isn't engaging the flywheel it could be a poor connection at your solenoid. That means it'll connect enough to let current pass to the starter motor, but not enough to engage the plunger to move the drive gear out to the flywheel.

Carefully raise the vehicle with sneakers on and make sure car is in neutral. Take a wire and jump it from your little wire on your starter to the bigger thicker wire on your starter. It's the one coming from the battery. Watch the starter and see if the gear pushes out and engages the flywheel. If not you have a bad starter solenoid.

Ps key has to be on to make it turn.

This sounds a little too complicated for a newb. But before I took it to the trans shop it worked perfectly and after it has this problem.. So I will just get them to take care of it if I can

I agree with you on this one. If all was running well before and not afterwards, then take it back and have them fix it. Don't wait too long or they might say that it was something that you have caused. You should have taken it back or at least called them the day that you noticed the issues. Good luck!

I got the car back as they closed and I called them today and they said that I need to talk to the owner of the shop at 9am tomorrow so that is what I am going to do. since I have had many talks with him about just general stuff going on and he is friends with my dad. Thank you for your input. I will start reading up on the electrical system since I realize that I know very little about it.

Yeah hopefully they just take care of it. They are just more prone to fixing it if you id'd the problem before hand. I've seen many shops take advantage of people that aren't sure of their setup. Hopefully everything gets fixed and you're back on the road soon.

thanks but this is the 4th time i have given my car back to them so they can fix something. after every time they screw something else up. last time it was a trans leak that i was able to fix but then another popped up. it sucks since it is a rebuilt trans. Its pretty bad when the guy from the tow company knows your name, address, what mods you have on your car, and basically everything about the car since me and him have talked countless times when he comes to pick my car up

4 times? 2 is overkill for me. This is why most people learn to work on their own cara. Had a similar issue with a timing belt install on my old gst when I was 16. Hopefully they get it straight.

Sounds like you need to find another shop. This is getting stupid for you to have to keep returning it to them.

Find another shop and let us know what happened this time.

If they can't fix it you might want to look into if they put some wiring in an area that could melt them. I would just check around the area they were doing work.
