Help im turning 17 next month and im getting my licecsense gotta a little less than 6 thousand to spend. I would really like a nice little tuner car but not sure what to get? any suggestions? Another thing is that i dont want to many miles on it.

i would get either a 1g awd or 95-96 gsx/tsi can't get a 97-99 w/ 6 grandw/ low milege, good luck

Since your just getting your licence i would get a non turbo talon or a honda.

my first car is the one i have now ... picked it up for 3800 with alot of new stuff had 109k miles on it ... if u want a talon or eclipse look for something with awd like the gsx or the tsi awd ull find you like it alot better then a non turbo or fwd although some like fwd alot .. its preference check the classifieds on this site for cars for sale and go for lots of test drives good luck

You def think a 2g gsx, how about a 3000gt or an integra. I hear the integra can last for over 300,000 miles, no problem.

You will probably have a much better chance finding a low mileage 1G over a 2G for that price range for obvious reasons...Take your time in searching and dont get in a hurry to buy the first one that grabs your eye..Youll thank yourself later by buying something that youve checked out throughouly and are confident is the car for you...

As for cars going 300,000 miles...Any car with the standard prevenative maintenance can go for a hell of a long time..Some longer than others.. and of course many other contributing factors are involved..Foriegn cars and trucks are infamous for going the distance but I wouldnt single them out.. my friend had a 1992 grand am that had like 245,000 and my friends 199X ford ranger is approaching the 200,000 mark...

And watch our buying a tuner car for your first car..Once the mod bug bites you...Its curtains!

I would say get a non-turbo car if you're just getting your license. Everyone think back to how badass you acted when you first got your license, no matter what car you had. Putting a turbo car in the possession of a new driver spells bad idea for everyone!!! I acted like a hardass and I had a 92 Mirage..... I'd say buy a cheap car, get used to driving, save the rest of the cash from the 6000, keep adding to it and when you're a comfortable responsible driver, get yourself an AWD turbo DSM.

Oh yeah, and your insurance on a turbo car at 17 years old will kill your bank account

^^^^ He has a point. I didnt get my car till I was a about 19. Even then the insurance was one bracket below the highest one..I made my father the primary driver And then insured myself on my daily driver..

so good points to consider. First, if you want a standard, make sure your first car is something you don;t want to be too attached to. And LEARN how to drive. Then, when you got some wits about you, buy a nicer car to mod. My first car was a 1990 Camry, and I raced a v6 mustang on the highway, even though he didn't know we were racing. I learned an important lesson that day.... 1990 Camrys aren't the most aerodynamic car at 120 mph! Just imagine what can happen when your 17 and HAVE a fast car. Just some advice from an old fart.

I highly recommend a nonperformence car. Honestly id get the car you want regardless of performence but i wish i hadnt driven one when i was first driving. My driven record and cost of insurance reflects that :thumbdown Just dont be king of the road and run the hell out of whatever you get. Also for cars going along time. my friends moms ranger (96) which i worked on at the ford dealership has a lil over 700K on it. She delivers stuff from east to west coast and drives with those wide load flags behind the semis. the only thing done to it other than oilchanges and brakes was the clutch. I have my daily driven 1981 toyota celica. just turned over 400K a few weeks ago and has only had a clutch and a few tune ups since wires tend to dry root in 20+ years. anything you get as long as you take care of it will last. Id get something Turbo AWD thats not maxing your money out and save the rest for you first few tickets and insurance hikes

i gotta agree with the "old fart" - my first car was a turbocharged '86 subaru wagon with lots of rust. i put like 5k miles on it and drove it really hard for about 6 months before i blew up the motor. no big deal, bought a classic car that i loved and treated nicely. your first car should be something you won't miss.
