When my car was stock the spark plugs were really lean. Since then I replaced the fuel filter, plugs gapped at 28, and wires, 3" turbo back and mbc. I took my plugs are today were super lean still. What can be causing it? The car runs strong and no problems. Could it be fuel pump or o2? Im looking into a logger right now and then a AFC. Suggestion please.

I may be a bit confused here in this guage you are talking about. Post a link if you can. Is it a complete package with sensor and all or is it just a Greddy gauge? If it is just the gauge then it doesnt matter because it is still getting its info from the stock narrow band O2 sensor. Expensive doesnt always make it better.

No expensive doesnt always make things better but yes i am referring to the one that has sensor. Heres a link to one. Not the best but its one that i knew where it was at and could find it in a hurry. http://www3.smart.net/~extreme/g1cat/afgauge.htm extremepsi.com has them too for 280. i think ive seen a better price than that tho somewhere else. cant remember where tho. The one for the link is pretty expensive but i have thougt about it :talon:

It sounds as if it is a nice unit. But it still doesn't tell whether or not it is reading the same way the stock narrowband is.

And either way you split it narrowband is inferior for tuning anyway you pay for it.

I dont think that one has a wideband in it becasue it would be more expensive than that, but I could be wrong. If it is then I would say go for it. Right below it is the kind I was talking about. It is a wideband that you can use while driving for tunning or at the track for logging.

Okay, I read all the posts and got excited. My car is the opposite of the "lean" ones. My car idles rich "$50 A/F gauge tells me so". Even if I didn't have one, I would know because at a stop light, for example, the light will turn green I will push the gas pedal, and the car will either do nothing for a few seconds (until the boost spools up), or it'll hesitate. My wife followed me home the other day, and she said a couple times she saw me spitting black smoke out of the tail pipe. I have no logger, but even if I did, I don't think it would tell me what to replace. Does anyone have a clue on that? Where to start? I just got an AFC, but haven't installed it yet. That may take care of the problem, but should the car naturally run like that? On another note, may be related, but when I took out the plastic insert (modify the BCS) to get my "2 free psi", it did nothing. And I still only boost to 8psi. It's an automatic by the way. Should I just start replacing stuff?

Care to give insight as to why that narrow band is better than a typical narrow band.

Obviously, its calibrated just for reading the a/f ratio, but theres only a .03 volts difference between it and a wideband. But still not as accurate as the wideband but yet the most accurate narrowband as to compared to the typical narrowband found in todays cars :talon:

I can look into it but I ned to knwo what type of sensor that is or who makes it. I have af feeling it is just narrow badn with some extra claims. If I can get that info then i will get some good answers.

Well I got my logger and it looks like it the o2. My o2 readings are from 55-83. So I'm going to replace that and see if it fixes it. thanks guys
