I have a 1g n/t 4g63 engine. My stock transmission cracked into 6 different pieces, so I am installing a 2g turbo transsmission in my 1992 fwd eagle talon.

My question is, what is the best way to handle the different fwd axle sizes? Can I use the 2g axles, or are they too different from the 1g axles. If not, would swapping the axle cups (the side that goes into the transmission) with the 2g ones and use the 2g cups on my 1g axles work?? Remember this is a fwd n/t application. this is my daily driver, and I need to get it running before college starts back up and so I can get to work.

Thanks in advance for all the help,
Chris.

are the 2g axles the same length as the 1g axles for a fwd application? Would the spline that goes into the hub fit with a 2g axle into a 1g hub?

No, they are not the same length. I do believe you can use the cups from the 2g axles on your 1g axles and put a new boot on it. I'm positive you can do it between 1ga and 1gb turbo axles as I had to do it at one point. If all else fails the 1gb fwd turbo axles will fit the splines in the 2g trans. Hope that helps.

If anything, what I had to do with my car (FWD N/T 3000gt Tranny with my 91 turbo eclipse hubs) I had both axles, cut them in half, welded them together and then welded a sleeve to the axle over the weld. Worked extremely well.

what do you mean by "1gb" fwd turbo axles? I have a 92 eagle talon with stock axles so what would be the difference in the 1g axles?

Sorry, I guess 1gb was not a good description as the 92 is a 1gb as well. The 93-up fwd turbo cars had a larger axle shaft than the awd's and the 90-92 fwd's. The n/t's shared the same axle size as the awd's and the 90-92.

So, I've done a little bit more searching and reading. Some information I've gathered has lead me to believe that I can use 1993-1994 axles with my 2g turbo transmission (from a 1995 dsm) because they are bulkier so they will fit the 2g transmission, and they are for a 1g car so they will fit my hubs as well.

Is this information correct?
