OK so I got my car back today and when I first turn it on the idle normal.. once I drive for about 5 minutes that’s when it goes bad. . I will come to a stop and put it on neutral and the idle stays at 2000 sometimes 1500. I put it into first and I don’t even have to press the gas so it can go . it just does it by itself. . also when I want to go fast in it. . it goes up to about 5k and sounds like its red-lining but its not. . idk what it could be.. I don’t know what to do also the coolant sensor wires are not in good shape looking for a replacement but hard to find. could that be causing the issue what about a boost leak?

+1 on boost leak. Do you have a boost/vacuum gauge? at idle if it's reading anywhere below 15 mm Hg at idle then you definitely have some kind of vacuum leak. If you don't have a boost/vacuum gauge i'd say invest in a mechanical one it'll help you alot with turbo cars.

yeah I want to post a video but still waiting for a special USB cord for my camera.. . . I am super low on money right now that I cant even afford to do a boost leak test or make one.. sucks since I got laid off.. . but i will try .. i just got this car about a week and a half ago.. last owner didn't really take care of it.. she really needs a lot of TLC...

ok so i turned on my car.. stays below 1000 . not: i just turned it on have pressed or done anything. in less than a minute it starts rising up.... slowly to 1000 then 1500 up then up to 2000.. and i just turned it off... so can all this be cause of a boost leak? or could it be the coolant sensor connection?

Check the ISC sensor.

na.. that i dont have to give it gas when i put it in first .. and i will move by itself all i have to do is switch gears.. going to look at that article first.. how to adjust the TPS sensor.. where is it? never mind found it...

so what exactly did u do to fix that?. and how would i check the isc, i know where its at but what do i do

would any mechanic be able to do adjust this?

Yea, if youre the mechanic. Its really easy with a voltmeter. Should read as close to 0V as possible closed, and as much as 5V fully open. Fully closed is the more important one.

Also, a bad O2 sensor can cause this but its more likely an intake leak (misnomer of a 'boost leak' cause that shows up under boost, but not always under vacuum).

Boost leak = usually an IC coupler that has a slice or pin hole that opens under boost but not vacuum.

Intake leak = a leak that shows up anytime because uncounted air is being noticed by the O2 sensor, more apparent under vacuum than boost; rough idle, idle surge etc. Under boost shows as a 'power loss/rich condition'.

Also check the ISS for proper adjustment (Idle Speed Screw).

im not really sure how to properly adjust it, but you should be able to find that on the site. thats what it sounds like to me

your speedo may be acting up because of a short or something similar. check out where it hooks up on the trans and see if any connections look corroded or bad in any way. definitely looks like a boost/vac leak. something simple, cheap, and sometimes annoying to try and fix.

yeah i checked the sensor and it doesnt snap on. . it will just hold on for a bit. i am looking for the sensor pigtail. .
