Car kicks me out of cruise control! wtf?

What's up y'all
This is my first post here
My Car (97 Eclipse GS) is running great lately, however it does have a problem that bothers me.
Whenever I use the cruise control and go over a bump or a rough road, the car "kicks" me out of cruise control.
I have no idea of how to go about fixing this.
I was told by my mechanic that there is a tiny little vaccum leak (check engine light goes on and off randomly) and he tried to fix it but couldnt find the exact location of the leak.
Could fixing this solve my cruise control problem?

maybe the connection to one of the switches (clutch/brake) that turn the cruise control off has a loose connection or is bad? just a suggestion.

Mine has done the same thing since I bought it new...never really bothered to look into it.

i don't think that the clutch turns the cruise off because i can shift gears while i the cruise is on
where is the brake switch located?

that doesn't sound right. the cruise control is supposed to shut off as soon as you push the clutch or brakes in....

I had the same problem started tinkering a bit and found out that my clutch pedal had a little play and sometimes I could not even turn the cruise on until I pulled the clutch up with my foot. Check your clutch pedal, get in push it down like you were going to start it and let off. Then get down there and see if the pedal has a little more to go up with your hand it might be a little but the cruise will still work. Then do the same thing and see how hard it is to push it down if it's real easy a bump will kick off your cruise.
