Car just turns off

Ok, so I don't know what could be doing causing it, I'm thinking it's fuel related but then again I'm not exactly sure. So whats been happening is the car will randomly shut-off as I'm driving and then yesterday the just shut-off and now it won't start back up. I want to check my ECU and make sure nothings wrong with it like leaky capacitors and such (I don't know if it could cause this problem). Then I want to check if I'm getting fuel from the pump, but I don't know exactly how you could check that. So if anyone has any ideas or has had this problem before, your help would be greatly appreciated

Well I noticed the other day that the car shuts off after some clicking noise that comes from up front, and then after that happens when i turn the key to the on position I hear some wierd clicking noise (it doesn't sound like it's working properly ether) and then the car wont start any more

Also where is the MPI relay located, it sounds like on 2g's it's inside but I don't have a car manual I don't know if it would be with the rest of the relays or what (really need to buy one)

I was going to say ECU for sure. My laser did the same thing. Motoguys garage on ebay do a great job. Kinda pricy but you get your deposit back.

Sry, I've been really busy with work this past week. OK well I found the relay and pulled it out and then plugged it back in and started the car. It ran fine and then I pulled out the relay again and the car shut-off (no duh). I now know my CEL is bad cause I notice the stock boost gauge will move to 0 when the ECU is working and then it wont when it isn't working. So I'm kind of dumbfounded right now cause I don't know if the relay is bad (or if u can test a relay), or if I have a lose wire somewhere, or if the ECU is just shutting it-self off randomly.

Hay so I figured out kind of whats going wrong finally. There is ether a short out right off of my ECU in one of the wires that kills the power to it or the ECU has some kind of problem that I can temporarly fix by hitting it hard enough . I just want to know finally if an ECU can behave like what I described is happening cause if it's a short I can fix it pretty easily

Heres a better picture of my ECU

You can see what looks like electrolyte leakage dmage around C14 (the SMD capacitor in the middle of the board) above C108 in this picture. It also looks like there might have been leakage around C104 just below the heatsink. It looks like the caps were changed at some point but the leakage was just mopped up and not fixed.

While it's possible you have a wiring problem or bad ground right off the ECU connectors it doesn't seem to happen much.

Do you have any DSM friends that could try running your ECU and see if they have problems with it? If what I see is leakage then it shutting off randomly is the precursor to it shutting off completely.
