Well i was just driving to the mall and my car just died. IT started with my radar detector going out and then my radio shut off. Then i noticed my light slowly dimming and as i watched my turbo timer the voltage slowly dropped. The car then backfired once and then died and wont start. Any ideas? Im dropping it off at a shop and am expecting to be ordering a new alternator.

+1 to you sir:thumb:. your probley dead on right there with the alternator. you described the symptoms of a bad one, you should get the shop to test your old one first if they have that capability. but more than likely thats your issue

+1 on the alternator going out.

Most auto parts stores will test your alternator and battery for free if you take them in. Remove the alternator and have it tested. While you're there, you can pick up a new one if needed. Do the work yourself (if possible) and save a few bucks by not having to pay the shop to do the work.
