Hey guys having small odd issue. Car is a 98 gsx runs great but if I turn the boost up to 12 pounds the car will pull good for about 4 separate pulls then the car will start to bog and hesitate until I turn the boost back down to around 8-10psi. Not sure what the issue is car has no boost leaks at all thanks. Current mod list

Stock 7 bolt
Greddy type s bov
FMIC
Walbro 255 re-wired
AEM fuel rail
Stock injectors
Full 3 inch exhaust
Injen intake
Big16g turbo
NSX manual boost controller
NGK BPR6es plugs gapped to .28 I believe.

Without a way to tune you're probably overloading your MAF sensor which causes fuel cut and I do not see a way to tune in your mods list. Keep your PSI low, check for boost leaks, check compression. Check your spark plugs and then get a way to tune your car properly if you want to turn the boost up higher.

When you read threads about people that can run a 16g at 16psi no problems? Those are almost always 1gMT guys. That DOES NOT apply to you.

I agree he needs a way to tune and with everything else you said. Except, you can run 16psi no problems on a 16g with with a mod list like his. I did it. Even if you want to argue 14 psi, it is still more than 12 and completely do-able. The only difference between my mods and his is I had DSMlink and could make sure I wasn't destroying my car and that my MAF readings were correct(ed).

Also, 1g Mt and 2gs have same injector size.

Did I once mention the injector size?

You're making my point for me. I'm not saying it can't be done, because it can.. and other users have had some degree of luck, while others have NOT. It is the same petty argument that arises when people discuss venting to the atmosphere.. some for whatever reason can get away with it. and some simply can't.

If he did all the things I mentioned in my first post and is still having issues then he needs to keep the boost down until there's a proper way to tune. I'm not saying he doesn't have a problem somewhere else but it would be much easier to isolate with something like a datalog to reference.

There is no debating this.

Sorry, I thought you were implying differences in injectors with the 1g MT vs 2g AT comment.

Either way if he doesn't get some sort of tuning software or keep the boost down there will be another roller for sale.

Exactly.. and to clarify my AT/MT statement was more of a 1g>2g statement.. 1g guys can get away with far more then 2g guys can as far mods without having to tune.

AT people need to remember that due to less gears and subsequently TALLER gearing, they are technically under higher load. Rule of thumb for an MT car is what doesn't knock in 3rd won't knock in 1st or 2nd assuming PSI the same because the load is higher in 3rd, 4th being higher then 3rd and so on. In an AT car the equation changes a little bit, not that it is inferior but it's just possible he's at a much higher load then OP might realize.

Because 1g MT

I have ecmlink that still needs to be installed, I also have a evo maf I been debating on using and my compression is almost perfect. The car has 165k and cylinders 1-3 are at 175psi and cylinder 4 is at 180psi

Because 2g AT

'Nuff said.

I've been wanting to put dsmlink in but the only issue is I have no idea how to tune. On top of that the neared tuning shop near me is about 5 1/2 to 6 hours away and I have no way to get my car down there

Ecmlink is by far the easiest and most friendly to tune. I wouldn't be afraid, just google ecmlink tuning videos and youll be set. Shoot, they even have videos on their site to get your car running.
(In before tards say nobody can learn how to tune themselves.)

ECMlink isn't difficult if you are patient, do your homework, and can read.

Sadly this is still too much for some.
