whats wrong wiht my baby..its an auto:

when i press on the gass more than 1/4 of the way it starts to hesitate and it like studders and sputters, anyhting under 2500k RPM's is ok, but onece it goes ove that it starts to sputter. i did a serach and nothing for the 1.8l only for the 2.0...someone help, WHATS WRONG?

also unless im applying gas, my oil gauge drops. And if i put it in Park or nuetral it revs up fine..only when im in drive it craps out on me. If i do try to push about 3/4 it starts to sputter, then dies. Help!

BTW new wires and distributor just installed, and injectors last year.

I had this once on a ford tempo....can't remember the fix. Bear with me as i am not familiar with the computer and sensor setup on the 1.8. Have ya checked the TPS (i believe you have one).

Also pull the cat if there is a flange between the cat and engine and see if that helps. ya may have a clogged exhaust.

how big of a hole are we talking here??? unless it is bigger than a silver dollar I still feel it could be the cat. ya should be able to just loosten the header on the car and run open headers (loose anyway and shimmed away from the block) for a min to see if this is the problem.
