Car has been down for a while. What would you do?

well, my Talon has been down fora while, a LONG time at that.

I believe it has a Spun Rod bearing or 2 (Oil Filter Backed off) at idle it knocks really loud

I already put a BRAND new, mind you BRAND NEW not rebuilt transmission Directly from Mitsubishi in it. 1200 dollars for that.

Would you.

1. Rebuild the motor.
2. Drop in a JDM motor.

What would a Mild rebuild cost? Of course rebuilt to stock specs.

rebuild and mild probably could do it for about 2300 if you do the work.
in my mind jdm arnt that great a rebuild would be far better.

you could do a full full rebuilt and build up the head as well. while the motor is out..change EVERY belt and get new pumps and clean everything up in there. You have a new transmission so that is a really good start.
I had my head rebuilt and when it was out...i got an almost new everything (water pump, t-belt, alternator belt, upper gasket set, head gasket, seals for everything, and i cleaned out my injectors. its a brand new car now...almost.
