I was driving down the road one day and all of a sudden I hear this pop and my car slid for about a second. The it ran normally for about a minute then i heard this sound like something was getting thrown around in my motor. I had to get it towed to my house and I pulled the valve cover because that is where the sound was coming from nothing wrong there. I changed the lifters thinking that was the problem. That didnt fix it either. I pulled the head and everything was ok as far as the valves go. I pulled the oil pan and everything was fine there. We have the sound narrowed down to the center of the head and just cant seem to figure out what the problem could be. It sounds like there is something getting thrown around by the cams. When I pulled the cams there was no significant wear on them just normal stuff. Cam bearings looked good also. I am at the end as far as what to do. if you have any suggestions please post.

Also when I rev to 6k my oil dipstick flies out and smoke comes pouring out of the dipstick tube.

I really need to get this car running anyone with advice on what the problem could be please help

What's your compression number set? When you pulled the oil pan, did it have a silver tint to it? Did you drain the oil and inspect the oil? When was the last time you did a timing belt / balance shaft belt job? How is your harmonic balancer? If that gets worn enough, it could take out your timing belt cover, timing belt, crank sensor, and a bunch of other fun stuff.

Checked oil. It looks very bad. Tons of metal chunks in it. Did a campression test

Number one-150
number two-55
number three-148
number four-100

I think its time to do a ring job. I'll be doing it this weekend.
By the way everything on timing belt end was done not long before i bought the car. So everything is fine there.
I will also be replacing cam, main, and rod bearings while doing the rings.
I hope all of this will fix my problems.

Thanks for all of the help
