I've been having problems with my 95' TSI for a good 6-8 months and nothing I do seems to help the car at all.

I have done a boost leak test, I've fixed all of them

I have changed my coolant temp sensor, that didnt help at all

here's my problem, this all started after installing a SSAC FMIC and a Intake pipe, the car seems to be running great at idle a little sputter here and there but nothing big. Its only when i go to drive it that it has problems. The car is just slow, i go WOT and its just a turd, but if i let off the gas and go WOT again it pulls harder. Its almost as if im double clutching but im a automatic?:|

The car seems to be running rich, i can smell unburnt fuel in the cabin, my spark plugs are also fouled.

PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME OUT, I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE....

to tell you the truth, i had this problem as soon as i hooked my kit up as well. it was horrible but after fixing the boost leaks it was still bad. Im assuming your still running on your T-25. This is becuase youve drastically changed the air flow velocity and increased your piping to 2.5'' and also a much larger intercooler. my t25 ran 16psi with the stock piping/sidemount. When i hooked up the fmic it ran 9psi and had your problems. You can try a mbc to higher the boost and also run a 3'' turbo back for faster spool up. Other than that all you can do it either put it back to stock or do as i did. Throw a evo iii 16g fully ported with a sbr fully ported mani and have no problems at all. :thumb:

ive tripled and quadruple checked for boost leaks...still nothing...im on NGK 7s gapped to .28

im actually on a evo 3 16g at 12PSI...

are you running any type of bigger fuel pump or injectors? If your going to crank the boost make sure you have the supporting mods for your turbo. Also I wouldn't be surprised if it needs tuning also. Are you running any type of tuning hardware?

now that i think of it after having these problems i put it back to stock smic and when i swapped the turbo i reinstalled the fmic but i also put a 190lph in. Fuel pump could be your issue. i have a 190lph on the evo316g and have no fuel problems im on the stock injectors too.

I have nothing to tune with.

I was planning on buying ECU+ this summer, I have no fuel mods as of yet. But I do have some plans.

I was going to go with 660cc injectors, 190 walbro, and a rewire, and have ECU+ to tune with but I think im going to go with a SAFC2

Its as if i was pulling a trailer behind my car, until I let off the gas and go WOT again, and i keep having to do this just to make it pull hard? :notgood:

so basically ## saying im getting to much air so the computer is giving me more fuel...which is making me run rich...should i switch to the stock sidemount until i get a fuel pump and a safc?

Thats why you need to upgrade all supporting mods at once, dont want to go changing your air flow without adjust the fuel to match with it.

The ECU reads the amount of air coming in already and automatically adjusts fuel trims accordingly. It will run fine unless he changes the injectors without an SAFC or of some type. The ECU is pre-programmed for the stock injectors which I believe is 450s (correct me if I'm wrong). It will run fine on 12 psi. Anything over 16 or so and you'll hit fuel cut.

To the OP: How did you do your boost leak test? Did you check the TB seals, BISS screw, etc? Spray soapy water on all connections? Vac lines, gaskets, seals, etc. Check the IC piping for any corrosion? Change your spark plugs? Check your ignition system? When you installed the intake pipe, did you reconnect all the vac lines?

Ive tested it through the intake side of the turbo, and i did use soapy water on like everything, i only found 3 leaks, TB, BISS, and LICP...but ive fixed them all, the spark plugs are fouled.

how would i go about checking the ignition system?

and the intake is only connected to the charcoal canister, ive put on a tiny air filter on the valve cover.

Well you just said the plugs are fouled. Try changing them then. To test for spark, lay the coil with the spark plug attached on the valve cover. Have someone crank the car. You'll see the spark arching onto the valve cover. That means you have spark. Or you could get one of those spark detecters. It's a little gadget where you put it against the wire and if there's spark, the bulb on it will light up.

My car displayed similar symptoms when I did a tranny swap, had everything unplugged, and then plugged some plugs in wrong... specifically I swapped my upstream o2 sensor plug with some ... cruise control servo I think... mounted just below the cruise control. This was on a '99 spyder gst.

Edit: also... car did not throw any obdii codes when I messed this up.

changed the plugs...ngk 6s

nothing...they actually fouled again and i only drove it around the block:|

i need help this is my daily driver and i cant miss anymore work...:coy:

the car seems to kind of stumble at idle some times...but not enough to die...when i revv it, its fine as if i have no problem...my vac is at -12...my egr valve is bad for sure...and the only leak i have is the biss screw

Slowboy sells a new screw set for the biss. Have you checked all the wires as said earlier? Are each and every one of your spark plugs firing? It still could be a spark issue.

Do you have a logger to see if timing is being pulled and how your front O2 sensor is functioning? Any CEL's?

A few things to check:

1) Excessive fuel pressure. B&M has a fuel pressure gauge with adaptors that connects on top of the fuel filter so you can check base fuel pressure. Also make sure the vacuum line that connects to the fuel pressure regulator has not come off and is in good shape.
2) Front O2 sensor as mentioned. If you don't have a logger you can use a multimeter to check it.
3) Timing
4) Compression test, especially since your vacuum of 12inHg is low.

Bah! Dylan, are you stalking me?

ROFL no Justin...im not stalking you...i just need to get this problem fixed so i have a way around town...and to work...got a job at Shelby :D...putting on the stripe decals LOL

ive checked for boostleaks...nothing

spark plugs fouled again

spark plugs where gapped to .028

no datalogger...

plug wires are almost brand new...maybe 100 miles

compression is 170-170-165-170

my idle jumps very very little maybe 100-200 RPM...could this be a problem?

Please buy a datalogger. That will tell use if your pulling timing, which it first sounded like, which would be the reason its a pig at WOT. Maybe a little bit of lifter tick.
