ok my problem is i put a belt on my car and when i start the car it squeaks for about 5 min then a few weeks later i c rubber on my cam cover and i can c that the belt is wearing. My bro has a awd talon and his squeaks to on start up. I looks at the pully on the altinator and it looks like it is cocked alittle bit on both cars is this a common problem and how do i fix the belt eating talons.

Check your Harmonic Balancer Pulley. If it is going then it will cause all sort of problems with your belts and lots of wonderful noises (being sarcastic about the noises). It is the pulley on the crank that holds the alternator belt and the A/C compressor belt. Make sure it isn't wobling really bad or seperated. I am replacing mine in a couple of weeks.

I also would check the crank pully. But are you sure that you are tighting them to about the right tention that could cause a few problems to. good luck

Hey man, try first to tighen those belts up 1st and I think that should solve your problem.

I'm going to cast my vote for Harmonic Dampener failure. It's really common on our cars. If you've thrown 2 belts, CHECK THE PULLEY before putting another belt on or just tightening up the current one. Might save you a little bit of a headache.

I would just retighten the belts first since the same thing happern to me and that was all it took to fix it.
