Hey guys, I thought this had been discussed before so I went to search but couldn't find anything but the "JEEP TB idling high" thread. Anyways, here's the story.

I was just cruising into town, and went to downshift like I normally do, and the car jumped. I thought there was something wrong with my clutch, so I pulled into Brookshires and let it sit. It was idling at about 2100 RPM's. I popped the hood to see if something was lodged in between the throttle dealimabobber. Nothing there, so I closed the hood.

When I drive on the highway, if I let off the gas just a little bit, it will jump. When I depress the clutch in, it will shoot up to 3000, back down to 2000, and just travel in between those two intervals as if it had its own mind. To make matters worse, I know my brakes are going bad and I usually use my leet downshifting skills to save them but now I find myself pressing the clutch in so I don't get whiplash. It also jumps to 3000 when I first start it up. I gave it more than a couple of chances to work its way out, but it hasn't as of yet.

Am I the only one with this problem and is there a quick fix for this? Or will I have to take it to a dealer or something?

I had the same problem with my 98 Saturn. I took the throttle body off and cleaned all the black bull-hockey that was all over it. It stopped for like a month but came back. I only did it every now and then so it wasn't that big of a deal and then I wrecked it so I never figured it out. Maybe its the TPS or something.

I just replaced my tranny fluid and rehooked the battery up. It still does it. I thought it was the IAC, but what's TPS?

It also sounds like alot of air is being forced through my engine as well. Like a high suction noise.

Edit: Duh, Throttle Position Sensor. Nvm.

Ok, I just checked the TPS and IAC with the OHM meter and all the terminals are good according to Haynes. However, I started it up again after reconnecting everything and it still idles high. Now, it sounds like a bolt or something is rattling (near the transmission my father claims). Any ideas?
