Car wont start on its own

96 Eclipse GS, Manual.

Wont start but i can pop the clutch and it runs fine, kinda. Seems like there is a timing error and there are alot of popping when i first get it started. Does timing affect ignition? I do not hear the starter even trying to turn over. Help?!!?

Timing does affect ignition. If you jumped time, then your valves arent opening at the correct intervals you're also looking at severe damage(bent valves). When starting are you talking about a rolling start in second gear? It does sound like a bad starter if it will only start with a rolling start. But it also sounds like your have deeper issues. Have you checked your plugs/wires/coil pack recently? Start with thesimple stuff first. Change that and then do a rolling start again, if it runs good after that, replace the starter,if it doesn't take it to the shop.
