car floods

hi, i have a '93 eagle talon tsi awd. the car has a fuel problem. when its cold it wont start easy and if it does it stalls soon after. also when driving at times the car will flood and start bucking and loose all power. has anyone else had any problems like this?

The bucking sounds like fuel cut. Are you fully boosting when it starts bucking?

its not fuel cut. this bucking isnt as harsh.

Do a boost leak test. Also check the vacuume lines to the pre turbo intake pipe.

boost test good, car also makes great boost. i held 23psi

Verify fuel pressure. Your regulator may be upping pressure too much under boost? Also it could be the spark blowing out. How are your plugs and wires? Do you have them gapped correctly?

new plugs and wires, gaped at .023, only about 1k on them. ill swap out the fuel pressure reg and see if that helps.

Sounds like a normal Fuel Regulator problem.....or a cold start injector but I don't think DSM's have that.

spark plug gap has to be .28. So you said you got .23 ,change to .28,bacause .23 is a bit to close for a good spark......

sounds like a good ol' fashioned vacuum leak for that also happened to me. Found a crack in a vacuum line from the INT manifold to the evap canister. Flood me out big time since it was sucking in more air than needed.

Cut that bad section out and goodbye flooding...

(How could that thing run with a .023 spark plug gap???.., with .23, that's almost a 1/4" gap there and that would take one hell of a charge to cross those gaps..Blow the head off for sure...Sorry, gotta do a little razzing there...)

i already have all that removed and i gaped the plugs at .028 and its no different. im going to look into the safc and see if its wired up wrong. i didnt install it but its a possibility that it could be that. ive also played with the settings and didnt get different results.

i see you got cams,when did you put them in??? does your problem started after you installed the cams??

You might have a bad fuel injector or two. If its leaking youll get to much fuel. Check fuel pressure then let it sit for a while keep checking your gauge if it drops then you need new injectors.

Check your timing. Then check your cts.

the problem just recently started and ive had the cams for awhile. it started happening and i though it was to big of injectors so i put smaller ones in and still have it. i dont think its timing related cause sometimes the car will run fine.

im going to pull the safc out this weekend when im done with the cage on my evo and see how it runs then
