Ok guys this might be viewed as a newb thread, some might not see it that way, im fairly educated on dsm's but still this is my first dsm so i dont know what to base it off of.

Ok I have my 2G talon, B16G, 2.5 inch turboback exhaust(dont know which brand it was on it when i bought it), and a K&N FIPK, and SBR boost controller set at 14psi. For some reason my car falls flat on its face when i try to take off, no matter if i slip the clutch, drop it, even if i take off normally then hit it, it like sits there for a couple seconds then kinda picks up, but still doesnt hit the "holy shit status" it will spin tires near the end of 1st, it will spin for a second going into 2nd and rarely it will spin a bit at the end of second. But the car will fully boost to 14 at i would say about 3200? Dont quote me on that, but im pretty sure thats about where it spools at, once it hits 14 on my boost guage(yes aftermarket) it doesnt seem to pull very hard but then if it sits at 14 for like 4 seconds or so it seems to kinda pull a bit harder then level off.

I have tested for boost leaks and i fixed a couple small ones with vacuum hoses, now i have decent leaks around my injectors and another spot that sounds like its coming from the back of the intake mani somewhere, i didnt really get to do much of a test, just a quick one. Would these small boost leaks really make my car lag that bad and feel so slow?

Also, sorry for all this typing but I need to find out all the answers i can while im at it. while i was testing the car for leaks i heard a hissing sound down by my brake pedal, also when i hit boost at like 6-7 psi u can hear a hissing coming from behind the dash and/or down by the pedal. Ive searched and saw some people had problems with a check valve of some sort in the brake booster lines. Can you explain to me which line this is in, how to get it and where i can get a replacement for it? Thanks guys. Sorry again for all the questions but i figured a full description would help you help me the most.

EDIT: also i forgot to mention im getting like 200 miles to a tank, give or take a few miles. Could this have anything to do with why my car feels so slow? maybe its running extremely rich other than from the boost leaks? Maybe a front O2 sensor going bad on me? Or is it just my lead foot and addiction to boost?

First thing first, finish the boost leak test. Fix everything you find, final result should be about 20psi and no less than 30 seconds before it bleeds down to zero.

Hi. You should fix all of the leaks you find no matter what. Even if it may not be the main source of your problem, it will make the problem easier to diagnose later on down the road. In my opinion, I think fixing those leaks will fix part of the problem that your having with lack of power. The other issue that you need to address is the fact that you have no supporting fuel mods for that turbo. That could be another reason for the serious lack in power.

No I don't have any datalogs for it, it ran similar at like 9 pounds so im thinking its a boost leak problem or something else, not knock pulling timing.

Oldman, Will do, I wont be able to do one till saturday But I will try to get it all fixed then and see how it does. But does this seem like its probably mostly due to boost leaks? I know a hard question to answer without having the car available and all that but Im just going for best guess on this till I fix the leaks.

I can tell you this much, brake booster check valve and injector seals are no small leaks, and I don't think your leaks stops there either. Trust me, you'll be busy with fixing leaks for the next couple of weeks. If the problem still persists after that, at least you have eliminated the biggest factor. If you have a compression tester, it would hurt to go ahead and see what the numbers are.

Compression is fine, I checked it a few weeks back and it was 170's across. Just I never noticed the lack in power due to me having a blown turbo. Do you have any information on this check valve, like where to get a replacement and how to do so? Im figuring I'll have to make a run to satan and get it from them. Thanks for all the help so far, this is exactly what I was looking for.

You will need to replace the hose between the back of the intake manifold and the brake booster, the check valve is inside the hose. The check valve opens under vacuum to assist braking and stays shut when under boost, you most likely have a stuck open valve. You can get it at dealer for about $35 but it shouldn't be too difficult to fab one cheaper.

Well update, I replaced the hose today, the genious that had the car before me must have had his rip or something and they mustve thought it was a normal hose, and replaced it with a normal piece of vacuum hose. so there was no valve period. Idiot. The car feels, runs, sounds MUCH better. It is right where I wanted it to be, still have to replace injector seals though but my biggest boost leak is now fixed. Thanks guys.

I had the exact same problem.I found a boost leak at the j pipe, then i just found one after another for 2 weeks:notgood: . The injector seals were my main problem. Check your tb shaft seals, mine were bad also. I finally got it down to one on my compressor housing.Good luck finding them all.
