Hello So About a year ago my Eclipse started to act up the transmission automatic 2.0 non-turbo RS 1998, I took my car to a gas station repair shop to get a trans flush every thing was all good for about 3 months, when my car started acting up slipping of gears, slamming its self into a lower gear in gimp mode had to restart the car every time this happend to get it from one gear to use all the gears. Some days it ran good Lot of power and good pick up. Other days it would die when i punched on it and had to slam on the breaks really fast after take off, some times the car would run fine until it had to down shift all the way to a stop then almost come to a stop the car would almost die RPM hitting the 200 range then bring it self up back to 900rpm. So I asked a guy at work wtf this could be. A friend told me maybe a torque converter not unlocking but for no reason to slam its self down a gear well cruising along not slowing down any not speeding up thats he said maybe the computer not working right. So i put if off for Little bit dealing with this problem for end of the winter and then the start of spring. This problem was really bad every day maybe twice a day dealing with the problems. Then the summer comes around and its working fine most of the week but still had its bad days. a lot less then every day twice a day so i took it to a dealer after like 3 months after I got the trans serviced, and the dealer called me told me wrong transfluid so I did the power flush of the trans for $250 dollors with a discounted price. So they call me the next day said they got the error codes off so i could come pick it up i did just that and i got 4 blocks and then doing about 48 mph, and gaining speed to 50 mph for no reason car slams its self down one lower gear and lock up in gimp mode locking the transmission up only to shift with all gears after car was shut off, and then restarted so i took it back to the dealer the next day and had them look at it again and then they where like oh those problems they ran the computer on it said oh that codes blahblah blah and then 2 of the codes he said he looked on the computer and could not find out what they where. He had to look at the books for that answer and then they started to pitch me a rebuild on my trans telling me it would cost 2000 dollors. One problem happening every time i drove it and that was shifting from park to drive i would have to wait for the transmission to put its self into drive about 2 sec of waiting. so i took it to a diffrent shop j&j transmission rebuild shop and well 3 days have gone by i have called him today and he said 50 codes came up i called him 4 hours later he said he replaced speed sensor and some thing else and said for me to call him back I called him he told me only code hes getting now is the torque converter so my story will continue when i find out more i thought this would be good info for some one else there in wondering wtf problems could be I just had so much on my mind trying to fill with detail sorry late note in the begin of all this problems this happed maybe this a good sign to get it looked at one day i started the car and took off the speed was reading 0 for a while and then getting on the highway i got to about 60 I'm guessing if the reading was right. the tack jumped from 0 to 60 worked from that day on maybe to end up doing it 1 more time after that i think this was the first sign i should of look into. I asked the dealer about this problem also they said they check it out and nothen was done. I'm not sure if having the car and then having the timing belt blow on the second day i had it, the dealership did take care of me the 2 pages long of parts they replaced that cost 0 dollors with no question asked.
