So of coarse my dsm has another issue!! So this is my issue my car runs fine during in town driving and under boost but if I get on the highway and just cruise for a while when I stop it sounds like it's clattering really bad and when I rev it up it continues to get louder... I pulled my valve cover and couldn't find any issues and couldn't find any loose bolts or anything. Not sure of anybody has had an issue like this before

How is your oil pressure? Or even you oil level. What viscosity oil do you run? It sounds like your losing oil pressure, low oil level or oil break down after a long drive then your lifters/hyd lash adjusters start to clatter or your whole engine for that matter. I would check for glitter in the oil as well.

+1 with car running and making noise pull plug wires 1 at a time to figure out if it is a rod or main bearing making noise .

It's not low on oil also the oil is fresh 10-40 castrol and I'm running a k&n filter. I just pulled my pan the other day to look for shavings and it's clean, also my car has a newer oil pump. Engine only has about 20k on it and it's built

Should I try going to a thicker oil? Am I maybe breaking it down to fast? My brother runs rotella 15-40 in his tt 3k but I've always thought that was a little thick.

I wouldn't run thicker oil but maybe you should try switching to a different brand of oil. Maybe try some Valvoline 10-30 instead, not that I think it's an oil problem at this point since you have checked everything out but it might be worth a try.
Perhaps you should do a compression test.

what do you mean by that? is that where it looks like metal shavings on ## dipstick??
whats that mean if you see it?

more than likely you're in the beginning stages of bearing failure. any clanking in the motor that comes after driving for a while that changes with rpm is oil related. anything that gets supplied with oil has a chance of failure.
