car is fully dynomatt'd for quiet ride!

Low boost is set for 14lb and 19lb High boost. The guy thinks its a fuel cut. I was thinking boost leak. Before I build a boost leak tester, how would I test if it is indeed a fuel cut? Lower the boost to like 8lb and see if it runs good? I need some advice what to do, I need the car up and running hopefully by Saturday.

Thanks for the help!

Sounds like a boost leak to me. I think it took more time to log on and post then it would take to make a boost leak checker though ROFL

Fuel cut does not make the car "bog". It "feels" like you hit a wall and broke the car. I would say your answer to the "bogging" is in your first sentence. You said the timing is off. I would make sure the timing is correct and do the boost leak test.

Search "timing belt replacement" it should give a diagram on here in the forums. Make sure its for the corresponding year/motor.

Sonds like boost leak or major turbo manifold leak myself. Do you smell exhaust at all?

most definatly a boost leak bud. grab a boost leak tester off line or you can make one from home depot!

You can feel the timing is bad. Even when you turn the car off, when the turbo timer kicks in the car jumps for a sec. Idle doesnt bounce but it feels rough. I don't smell any exaust, it's just a downpipe right now, nothing else.

Sorry, but "feeling" the timing being bad doesn't mean the timing is off. It could be numerous things. Pull the timing belt covers, and verify the marks line up like posted in the link above. What's being used to lean out the AFR with those bigger injectors present?

I thought it wouldnt matter about that with the AFR since it is a stock fuel pump? :X

The car is running somewhat lean, I've read that it can be because of boost leak as well.

You've got 550's installed with nothing to lean out that mixture. That's ~17% bigger than stock, so you are going to be richer. You need a way to lean that mixture out to get it into normal AFR's. Stock fuel pump just means you are going to run out of fuel at higher IDC's.

How do you know it's lean?

I meant rich. The guy stated it is running rich, he never got it tuned. I really know nothing about dsm, I've always been a honda guy and never ran into these things.

Also, what is "EFI systems inc ecu with data logger "Old School""?

I did a quick search and didn't come up with anything for our cars. Care to post a picture of this?

You need to find a way bring your fuel back under control at idle, either through some sort of fuel management, or 450cc injectors.

Boost leak test also.

He has that old EFI systems ecu to manage fuel.
EFI Product 4
It says it has a datalogger so...........start logging.

Do the boost leak test first along with making sure all timing marks are aligned. If that doesn't fix it....and even if it does, stock pumps don't do well with higher boost. watch the fuel pressure guage and make sure it is rising 1:1 with the boost.

Just start checking one thing at a time and then post up the results.

Wierd, I was just on a similar page and didn't see the Mitsu platform listed, thanks for the link.

Yeah, its in their "old product boneyard". If that tells you when they were around:hmm:

You may want to get a wideband first before you start messing with this thing.

o2 sensor so you actually know if it is rich or lean. A must have if you are going to using a tuning tool of any kind. Look them up.....AEM and Innovate make good ones.

Really cant afford one so I'll see what I can do :/

They are only like $200 for a UEGO. It's really an indispensable tool is you are not taking your car somewhere else to get tuned. Just part of the price to play the game.

Just a little input here, but my car was having terrible boost leak (hardly pushing 4psi) and it did at times really feel like the car was bogging down.

So just another +1 for it being a leak.

can a boost leak cause it to feel like the car needs the timing done?

Yes. You need to quit posting on here, Go out to the car.

1) Make sure timing marks line up. If they don't, redo the timing so they do, and do a compression check.

2) Boost leak test. You've already stated you have one. So Fix it.

I will tomorrow. The guy didn't get the title from his father yet, it comes tomorrow now. :(
