Hi, I'm new to DSM's, just picked up a 94 Talon TSI about a month ago, and working on getting it running smooth. I notice that when I startup with a cool motor in the morning, or after it's been sitting several hours, the car runs fine; however, occasionally when I'm driving around and having to make frequent stops, when I start the car after it's been warmed up it will run with really low rpms, and the exhaust sound is extremely low and throaty. The car runs like this, almost like it's not running on all cylinders for sometimes a minute or less, but never more than 3 minutes. Then after running like that for a few it will spontaneously kick back into how it normally drives.
This normally only happens when the car is started warm; however, twice it occurred as I was already driving, but just shortly after I had started the car. I usually just pull over as soon as I can as there isn't much power in the car when it's running like this, and it goes back to normal after a few.
I'm not sure if any of this will help, but here's what I'm aware of that has been done to the car before I bought it:
B16G Turbo
FMIC
Walbro 255lph fuel pump
ACT 2100 Clutch
MSD DIS-2 ignition
3" Turboback exhaust
Greddy BOV
Those are the main things that come to my mind. As far as I know, the timing belt was replaced recently, but I don't know about the water pump. The only other issue I've had with it is overheating. It ran pretty hot after I first purchased it, but it turned out the R-Cap was bad. Replacing that and flushing the coolant has seemed to alleviate the problem, although it does creep up to a hair or two over 12 o'clock sometimes on really hot days.
Anyways, sorry for the long post, just wanted to make sure I gave any information necessary on the problem. Any pointers would be much appreciated as I'm just starting to learn about my DSM.
