Can't shift.

I was accelerating pretty hard in second when I went to shift into third. My RPMs jumped up but my car didn't go anywhere. Now the shifter will loosely move forward in back without going into any gear. There is no side to side play whatsoever. The car is still stuck in third gear. Anyone have any ideas?

well it sounds to me like your tranny took a dump on you, i could be wrong.if thats the case you know what that means new tranny.so its stuck in 3rd did you try everything you could to unstick it?

The shifter just moves forward and back, it doesn't go into any gear.

Check your shifter linkage at both the tranny and the shifter assembly. If they are still connected, its probably a shift fork.
