Can't shift out of gear!

For awhile, I had no C Clip holding down the right shifter cable. From time to time, I wouldn't be able to shift out of first because it would get stuck.

I just bought a C Clip from a Mitsubishi Dealer and it was a perfect fit, obviously. Now for some reason, I'm stuck in first gear. Why is this? I checked the right shifter cable under the hood and it's still looking good.

It sounds like the shifter cables are kinked up and making it stick.

Would you suggest I remove one of the cables and put it in again?
