can't shift into 2nd, 4th, or reverse

to start this is not a shift cable problem i know, but this is kind of weird, my clutch gave out about two weeks ago, i finally finished putting the car back together with a new centerforce df clutch yesterday, i drove it around the block a few times, i took it to the carwash, and i drove it about 16mi to my gf's house, it shifted fine and accellerated great, i goto sleep and i'm about to goto work and it's acting weird. first, it would go far enough into reverse to turn the reverse lights on, and it would go into 2nd and fourth, but after a few ateempyes it was like 2nd, 5th, and reverse locked up, it still shifts into the other gears fine,and will even move.but, it's like something is blocking me from going into those gears, ithe shift lever at the tranny wont move much, and when i move the other lever to certain positions it wont move at all. i have seen other post for the same problem but no solution was posted, so far i'm leaning towards rebuilding the tranny,but i don't want to jumo con clusions and spend unnecessary money. i've only had my dsm since last year so i'm still learning, any help would be appreciated.

A shift fork would be 1&2, 3&4, or 5&R. Sounds to me like a cable problem, I had this and even the dealer said it was just an adjustment. As it turns out the end of the cable parted so when I would try 2,4, or R it was nothing. Take your cables off and try to put it in gear by hand. If it doesn't look at your tranny.

thanks for the suggestions, it turned out that i had a hydraulic leak and my slave sylinder had very little slack in it, so i got a new fluid line and adjusted my clutch pedal.but, now i have a problem because i bent a u clip on my shift cable, and now i cant find one anywhere. anybody know what i could use instead or a place to check?
