I am experiencing this strange noise which sounds like it is coming from somewhere in my engine bay. No matter how soft I start in first, or how soft I brake, this weird "snap" or "bang" noise occurs. Both of my engine mounts are about a year old and still in good shape. I literally just replaced my front engine mount (the one that bolts to the crossmember) a half an hour ago and the sound still occurs. I have went underneath the car and checked every bolt I could get to, and inside the engine bay and done the same thing. Everything seems to be tight and in place. PLEASE HELP.:banghead:

Try putting it up in the air with all 4 wheels off the ground. Have someone put it into gear SLOWLY and let it idle see if you can find the noise.
Possibly dust shield rubbing, bad U-joints, maybe bad brake pads who knows.
A video will be helpful too.

Noob mistake on my part, completely forgot about the rear stopper. Checked it and noticed it was broken, replaced it today and the the noise is still occurring, although I will say it is not as harsh as before. May try the idea about lifting the car completely off the ground, but as of right now, my problem still exists. I will post a video as soon as possible, weather isnt really allowing me to do so at the moment. Thanks all.

Sounds kind of like a bad u joint. The sooner you post a video the better, but from what I can tell thats what it seems like.

Honestly if start checking bolts for looseness. Starter, trans, t case, etc. I've had some bolts back loose lately and cause something like this.

Sorry for the delayed update everyone, checked the u-joints for any play and found there to be none. Also used a garage that has a pit underneath it and had a friend slowly drive back and forth to make the sound occur. I am about 90% positive it is coming from the bolts that attach the lower compression arm to the frame of the car. The bolts are tight but I am thinking there is too much rust between the threads and not allowing the bolts to torque properly, causing the arm to shift when begin to drive or even brake. I am not sure exactly when I will have the time to check out this theory, but I will continue to update as often as possible.

I had a similar symptom on mine awhile ago. Mostly when I would brake though, not so much on take off.. Come to find out, it was my front wheel bearing/hub assembly. Should check for play in those, just food for thought.
