Cant install AWD fuel pump assembly

Im about to finish my AWD swap and I cant install the fuel pump assembly. The problem is in the o-ring seal around the assembly. I lubed it and I tried every possible way to install it with no luck so far. The rubber ring either gets pushed in or gets squized out when I try to push the assembly in.

I tried both ways - the o-ring installed on the tank and then installed on the assembly.

Everything I read doesnt mention anything about reinstalling the assembly. It just says to do things in reversed order.

Is the O ring tight on the assembly?.

When the O ring gets on contact with the gasoline, It stretches really bad,,,,, So my advice is to dry the surface and install the assembly with the O ring on it, Make sure the O ring is dry off gasoline.

yeas it is tight around it. I tried it dry also with no success.

I had this same problem, took me several tries. Eventually lubed it up enough. You may have it too bloated or stretched and will have to buy a new seal. Good luck.
