Couple of weeks ago my fuel pump goes out in my 92 talon TSI AWD and im real bussy with job and no good place to work on it so had a local place pick it up to fix it... I have a Walbro 190 ready to be put in so I gave that to him as well... Weeks go by and now the guy at shop is coming back and saying they need a part (fuel pump assembly) to finish the job but they don't make it anymore and can't find it anywhere... he told to send my car to the junkyard and buy a new one... WTF... I need some help guys to get this part... My car has a good engine and tranny...dont want let go

Thanks in advance and here is a pic of what im talking about but im sure you guys know...

nate at Dimond Star Motorspors has one for sale in his used section on his web page for $100 thats priceybut avalable.

no they didnt say but i think numbnuts broke it or just hacked it off b/c it was pretty rusty...BTW thanks for the fast response guys

You gotta be careful with those things. I cracked the metal fuel line just loosening the nut for it. I picked up a sending unit in fairly good shape from the wreckers for around $70. I sanded the little bit of rust that was on the fuel line and cleaned it up. Still haven't installed it yet though :D

You should be able to get one used off of someone that lives outside of the "rust belt" mine was shitty and I bought one from someone in colorado for about 40$. In reality it wouldn't even be all that hard to fab something up to replace that, with the exception of the fuel level sensor.

My reccomendation would be to post a wanted ad and look for people parting out cars that are in the south west ish part of the country.

Also, have them show you the part and what is broken, because most likely it could be fixed, or modified to work.

The two big things seem to be breaking the fuel line or overtightening the + feedthru bolt and cracking the insulator so it shorts out.

The fuel line on my GSX kinked just from the weight of a wrench and I ordered a used one from California to avoid any rusted junk.
One of my Stealths I picked up cheap cause a shop had broken the insulator changing the pump causing it to blow fuses and quoted the dealer price of $500 to replace it. That pushed the prior owner over the edge.

Thanks guys for the feedback... I bought the one off of diamond star motorsport... hopefully will be up and running next week...
