Can't get engine removed from transaxle

Can anyone tell me what to do here, it's attached to the transmission in the center and no matter how hard I pry it, it won't budge, just the outside, not the flywheel

It's on the input shaft, make sure you wiggle the transmission off straight.

Well I got it off the transmission, but in the process I snapped the back up light switch. There's two hoses that still need disconnected before I pull the engine, they are in the back and go to ac compressor I think it's called. Sorry, I'm still in the stupid phase. So am I okay to just disconnect those two hoses? I heard something about bad gasses getting out or something

That looks like the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) and should have been located right near the rear transmission mount.

As for disconnecting A/C lines, you should properly have that done at an A/C shop, as they are harmful to the environment. If you do need to do it yourself, put a big rag over it and watch your face. There should be a release valve on each line, both high and low, to help purge the gases.

We've all been there. Always remember to search for help on this forum as there is a lot of knowlege from experianced DSM'ers that have been around the block. I've done my share of rookie mistakes prior to joining this forum but I reasearch anything I'm unsure of now. Good luck

You're probably right, so is this fixable?

Yup. I'm guessing the bottom half of it is still bolted in to the trans?

If so, just unbolt it, MAKE SURE not to drop the bolt or anything else in the hole, and bolt a new one in.

Also instead of unhooking the ac lines you could just unbolt the compressor from the engine and let it hang to the side. If you do release the system gas you will need to replace parts afterwards if left open for extended periods Of time.
