I just got my motor pulled but I cant figure out how to keep the different sprockets still while I break the nuts loose. Any ideas? I have an impact gun so Ive got that squared away now just need to stop the damn things from spinning.

If you are talking about the crank pulley, then get another person to hold a flat head screwdriver against the teeth of the flywheel. That advice is straight out of the Haynes manual.

Oil Pump Sprocket- Loosen the 14mm bolt on the lower firewall side of the block.(vfaq, its the only bolt there not doin anythin) Stick a screwdriver through and turn the sprocket until you can get the screwdriver at least 3 inches into the block. This will hold the balance shaft so you can loosen the sprocket bolt.

The balance shaft sprocket should have been loosened before you removed the belt. I don't know any other way to loosen it someone can chime it here.

The crankshaft sprocket is cake, tap it a little bit or get a prybar behind it and pry it out. Be careful not to damage the front case.

If you are talking about the bolt on the crankshaft pulley use a big breaker bar and wedge it under a controll arm or the ground. Remove your lower rear seat and the little plate under it and disconnect your fuel pump. Hop in the car and bump the starter. Do not hold the key on just bump it a little bit and check it. Works everytime
