I have a tdo5 20g and cant boost pass 20psi .
I was talking to dejon' owner ( i forgot his name) and he said that my internal wastegate could or more likely is my problem .
I dont want to spend money if i dont really need to go external , can i do anything else to what i have ?

Let me make sure I understand right. You literally cant get over 20 psi? Or you cant run more than 20 psi because you creep like mad?

If its number 2, that makes sense, however, if you literally cant boost past 20, you might want to check for boost leaks. A wastegate that is too small wont limit your ability to run higher boost. However, someone feel free to prove me wrong :)

Ok I will :). An internal wastegate's limitation (or an external wastegate) is in the actuator spring's ability to hold back exhaust pressure, which is about 2X the spring pressure. An actuator with a spring pressure of 12psi will be blown open at about 24psi but can vary from setup to setup due to engine VE, turbine housing as well as the size of the flapper surface area. The purpose of the external wastegate isn't for diverting more air, it's that you can change and increase the spring pressure so it can withstand higher exhaust pressure.

burnnxs, let's test Dejon's theory, test run with the actuator fitting open and see if you can boost past 20psi.

Oldman your good!!! Thats exactly how he told me to test , It all makes sense, ill test this soon

No i cant boost pass 20psi .

Is the Wastegate Actuator adjustable? If so crank it down really tight.
If what your talking about is the adjustable end of the rod that keeps the flapper from opening .
Then i already done it

is there anything else i could do besides going external?

44mm or is the 38mm waste gate good enough ?

Whats best- if you have the waste gate on top with the manifold or low with the dp?

You're jumping the gun, you need to do that test run as well as a thorough inspection for boost and exhaust leaks before going further, boost, exhaust leaks and a faulty MBC can also limit you to 20psi, flapper being blown open aside.

Im running SBR cast W/ 38mm Tial. I had my uncle Use nickel rod to weld the arm that the internal wastegate attaches to. Just find a way to clamp it closed and weld it. You probably could wire it, but good luck finding something strong enough that wont blow it open.

:thumb: i took a part the mbc and checked already , i dont have boost leaks .
ill check everything else and test- disconecting the mbc from the actuator this weekend .

old man
i got this idea with the wastegate on the works too, im going to make it and if it works write on it, ill pm you if i get stuck!

I tested the actuator unpluging the mbc , same thing it blows open .
so im thinking on going with the 38mm tial is that good enought ?
I want to run 24psi
