Well like the title says. I put a mbc on and turned it in all the way no boost. Its correctly installed as well., so i took the vaccum line off the wastegate and it still wont boost past 11lbs. Car runs great but wont boost more. I thought I had a turbo problems before. It smokes a tiny bit when I let off after making boost.. bad turbo eh?

I am doing a boost leak test today. I can pull on the rod and move it back and forth so it doesnt seem like the wastegate is stuck. I looked at my BCS and it has the mod done to it. But even w/ a boost leak shouldnt I be able to make more then 10 or 11 psi with the wastegate vacumm line off??? Shouldnt go until I hit fuel cut?

Don't use the BOV line for a boost reference source on an MBC or directly to the wastegate.

If you're smoking out the exhaust after each shift, chances are the turbo is starting to go. Check for shaft play and oil pooling in the LICP and IC to be sure.

If the turbo is failing, as the wheels rub on their respective housings, they slow down, limiting your boost. When my T25 failed, one day I was boosting at my usual 14psi, then one day it would max at 10, then the next day it maxed at about 6.

yea i took it off the bov line. but still didnt work. the car doesnt smoke anymore it was just a bad tank of gas. I cant really feel any shafte play didnt see any oil puddling. didnt get a chance to do a boost leak test yet. will update as soon as i do one.

update.. it goes to about 14-15 psi when the car is first driven (after abotu 5 mins of warm up time) but then after about 15 mins of driving it goes back down to 9 or 10 pounds. can that be because of the cold weather we have now in PA? but i still dont get why the turbo couldnt make more boost then 9 or 10 with the actuator line off...?

Well it is most likely not your wastegate being stuck then. I would guess somewhere in your ic piping you have a coupler sliding or something and you are making boost leaks. Thats happen to me where i fixed one and then went out and beat on it and just made it leak at same spot.

but i still dont get why the turbo couldnt make more boost then 9 or 10 with the actuator line off...?
1. Pre-turbo exhaust leaks.

2. Boost leaks.

3. Dying turbo.

4. Tired actuator. (Being blown open by exhaust pressure)

For those of you suggesting a stuck wastegate, please do not post unless you're sure of what you're posting. A stuck opened wastegate will result in little to no boost, a stuck cloesed wastegate will result in infinite boost, both of which has nothing to do with the problem at hand.

Yea guess I should check for any leaks. It's been to darn cold to check tho. 20* sucks.
I pulled the rod on the wastegat and can move it. Its got some tension on it. I know my exhaust manifold is leaking a little. Need to pick up a gasket. I have a B16g ready to go on as soon as the temps at least go up to the thirties!

is it the turboxs mbc, you hook the bottom of the mbc to the wastegate actuator and tied it with some zip ties, take other the side of the mbc and hook it to the j- pipe, that is the way i did it and was pushing 17psi into 3rd gear, my wastegate looks like junk but does the job and its a pain to pull wastegate rod with pliers...so tell me if it works
