OK im having issues with with belts. I installed a new harmonic balancer pulley along with a new power steering pump. The old harmonic balancer pulley was wobbling very badly and made the engine vibrate so i changed it and that eliminated the vibration. I also have had a issue with the power steering pump clicking loudly so i changed it as well. now the belts will not stay on at high RPMS (3.5-6K RPM) so say if i decide to pass a car or do a pull then they will come off or half will come off resulting in the belt split in half. I really don't know what to do? any advice?

It sounds like you have either a loose, bent, or wobbling pulley still, or you're not getting your belts tight enough and they're flinging off. Double check each and every pulley for any wobble and make sure the alignment of all the pulleys is correct as well. If that is all good and your belts are tight you should be good to go. Good luck:thumb:

I have tightened them down til you can only twist them so far, thats what the auto shop told me to do. they still want to jump off when i get to high RPMS :(

I will check all the pulleys again but im at a loss :(

Make sure the pulleys are installed correctly. Might be on backwards?

I Checked all pulleys to my haynes manual and all are install properly. Could it be due to the harmonic balancer pulley not all the way on? We used a 4x4 block and a hammer to seat it onto the crank then use a small impact gun to tighten it down, then i torqued it to specs. it has ZERO wobble on it but maybe it not fully seated?

Does it stick out any? If it's sticking out of line with the rest of the pulleys that would answer your question.

Hmm i will eyeball the pulleys tonight when i go by autozone and buy yet another belt. hopfully i can fix this cause duralast will make a killing with me and belts LOL

*UPDATE!!* HUGE UPDATE!! well i got home and took a square to the pulleys to see if they were inline. all were inline except the harmonic balancer pulley. i just replaced it three weeks ago and the puzzled me. it was about 1/8 off from all the other ones. I took a impact gun and ran the bolt down until it wouldn't turn anymore then torqued it down to 45 pounds (as the haynes manual says) then i measured with my square again and... IT WAS DEAD ON!! i went and got new belts and installed then took it for a 1 hour test doing pulls at every light (trying not to get pulled over LOL) and every time it went to 7K rpm with no issue. got home and checked the belts and they were still looking good! im so excited that its finally road worthy
