Keep throwing alternator belts.

I can't figure this one out. I've checked just to make sure everything is tightened down, but I keep throwing alternator belts. They always end up shredding one way or another. Any ideas would be helpful? I'm going out now to mark the crank pulley, but other than that I'm stumped.

Tension must be to tight, when you start it up after setting it does it squeal?

Could be your harmoic balancer. My car kept trowing the alternator belt, I tried buying ever brand of belt but no matter what I did it kept shredding them. I finally found out that the rubber in the center of my harmonic balancer was coming apart.

Check to make sure you water pump pulleys aren't on back wards, the pulleys aren't symmetrical so it does matter.

check to see if the balancer is lined up with the other pulleys if not aligned it will shred the belt
